haha - yet to return to that game. Will wait for the enhanced edition now that I've left it so long. But hey - I'm lucky to finish any game these days, particularly the large ones.

Grrrr....Nvidia updated their video driver this week, and not only did it mess with my Gal Civ settings (Gal Civ was set to display at 1368 x 768, but post-driver install it only showed the left 80 per cent of the start screen, with just enough cropped so you couldn't get at the options button to change resolutions - got around it by changing the resolution of the whole screen, but it was a bit screwy) but it decided to change the sound output from my digital optical to the HDMI.  Easy enough to fix, but why on earth would a video driver mess with my sound output settings?  It's this kind of things which pushes me to console, just too much compulsory BS on PC.

/rant

Luckily for PC, it's also got great strategy games and flight sims, so I'm not done with it yet - Gal Civ III is tops :D.

I guess I might be lucky (thus far) that I haven't had any problems. The only thing I find is there seems to be a driver patch (nearly) every time I log in... that or it's a Windows update. But I think it's just the way windows is built - it still is a pile of turd no matter how much I try to like it.

Then again - if we're having a whinge - every time I log into PSN it seems to have an update as well (please update the system software before playing your fucking game), although I'm not logging on there nearly as much as I am the PC these days.

On the bright side - with my Mac, I'm lucky to get an update once every two months (if that) and it's never anything that big (takes a couple of minutes). Never had an issue with Macs for the past 20+ years I've used them... except maybe the switch from 9 to X which you had to run some software in classic until you updated your software. And also the switch from IBM processors to Intel.

i've gone to a windoze machine at work, only had it a couple of months & really regretting it.  first issue was most of the fonts weren't supported (windows 8 dropped type 1 support, then added it back, then removed it again), you can't do special characters without using the symbol program & copy/paste or try to remember 4 digit codes & once again the fonts, view say 20 in a row & it'll crash lol, oh on crashes, i get stuff 'not responding' several times a day yet never have crashes with the macs, oh & the networking issues, fark !!!  never used to have ANY !!!

Mate - I did one job on the PC and went back to my Mac. But in all honesty - I was still a complete noob with Windows at that stage (not that I'm a pro now). I was also overwhelmed by the screen, it became too much on my eyes as I'm used to sitting really close to it when I work. OSX just seems to be far better in a working environment as well.

I had no problems with anything else though - fonts worked fine, I use Suitcase which I could run licensed on both machines, as with all the Adobe software.

yeah i've installed suitcase, right now it has just over 4,000 fonts sitting in it & growing :S

one thing that's frustrating with it is that on the mac the previews are instant when flicking through them, on the pc that's literally 100x more powerful than the mac i had here it has 'generating preview' coming up for a few moments & then displays the font.  on top of that flick through a couple dozen fonts & it crashes anyway *ARGH !!!!*

other things that annoy me is just previewing images, on a mac just hit the keyboard & start cycling with the arrow keys, on the pc there's no ability to do anything similar, makes going through pictures of any sort a chore.

the special characters thing is also a nightmare, the amount of times i have to use an accent etc & would usually just use the shortcut but now have to go through 'symbol' is terrible.  all up it now takes longer to produce many things on a 'faster' machine, it's just dumb.  thank christ i didn't switch at home too !!!

Completely agree - it's all the little things that Apple thinks of that make things far more simpler and intuitive. The way I see it is Windows was designed by nerds that don't understand simplicity and design... hence why they always have to copy Apple for their ideas. Even Windows 10 is adding a few more things that Apple have been doing for years but at least they're starting to finally catch up (in some areas).

Oh aye, the only two reasons I'm on windows is because:
- Work is on windows, and having the same set-up means it's easier to work from home, and you don't need to be across both systems (I confuse easily :)).
- Support for strategy games on PC is a tonne better than Mac or Linux.  If work was Mac, I'd probably have both Mac and PC for the strat\ games.

Couch (well, recliner) play - I sit about two and a bit metres from the screen, so the UI gets a bit small at full 1080p.  I can actually just do it with Gal Civ III (and Civ V/Beyond Earth is fine), but with HoI3 or EU4 1080p just leaves the text too small.  And for some reason 1366 x 768 works bettern than 1360 x 768 (or 720p, which despite being one of screen's TV's native resolutions, doesn't look so great).

  • Car update – The Fiat 131 Abarth now has historically accurate rear lights

Yeah - think I'll have a quick stab at it to find out. Looks like they've gotten rid of the animations though...

Doesn't look like it says anything specific to FFB (in that list).
