You wanted a Star Wars™ Battlefront™ Beta? As You Wish.
The Star Wars Battlefront Beta is Coming Early October.

Posted Image

Ever since we revealed Star Wars™ Battlefront™ in April at Star Wars™ Celebration, you've been asking us if there would be a Beta. Today, we are thrilled to finally be able to answer that question, and the answer is yes!

Coming early October to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and on Origin for PC, the Star Wars Battlefront Beta* is a technical test and will feature Walker Assault on Hoth, a 40-player multiplayer battle featuring Rebels and the Empire. Walker Assault will also give you the chance to play as two of the most iconic characters in the Star Wars™ universe: Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker. The Beta will also feature our Survival Mission on Tatooine, where you and a Rebel friend must fight back waves of Imperial forces.

In addition to those two modes, we are excited to reveal a brand-new mode that will be available in the Beta, Drop Zone. We’ll be sharing more details on Drop Zone in the weeks ahead.

As part of the Star Wars Battlefront Beta we are also happy to reveal the Star Wars Battlefront Companion experience. Available during the Beta at www.StarWarsBattlefront.com, the Star Wars Battlefront Companion experience features the strategic card game Base Command, and lets you earn in-game Credits that unlock Star Cards, weapons, and more in Star Wars Battlefront. In addition to Base Command, the Companion also lets Rebels and Imperials alike check game stats and progression, customize load-outs and appearance, connect with friends, and get notified when they’re playing Star Wars Battlefront – as well as gather intel on their stats and progression so you can see how you match up! The Star Wars Battlefront Companion will be available on web and in the Apple App Store™ and Google Play™ store prior to the release of Star Wars Battlefront on November 17.

We'll have a lot more info regarding the Star Wars Battlefront Beta in the weeks ahead, so be sure to stay tuned to this page, follow us on social, and sign-up for our newsletter to get all the latest news.

BETA PARTICIPATION REQUIRES AN INTERNET CONNECTION AND ACCEPTANCE OF THE BETA AGREEMENT. GAMEPLAY PROGRESS, ACHIEVEMENTS, CHARACTERS, CHARACTER DATA AND/OR ANY OTHER VALUE OR STATUS INDICATORS ACHIEVED THROUGH GAMEPLAY IN THE BETA WILL NOT TRANSFER TO STAR WARS BATTLEFRONT MAIN GAME OR STAR WARS BATTLEFRONT COMPANION. BETA IS PRE-RELEASE SOFTWARE, MAY CONTAIN ERRORS/DEFECTS AND IS PROVIDED “AS IS” WITHOUT ANY EXPRESS OR IMPLIED WARRANTY.

I did have it ordered but since EA releases are generally dodgy and we'll be in Sydney on release day I have cancelled, might pick it up in May 2016 after they have patched the bugs.

40 players in 1 game eh? Suddenly i started missing Kz2 haha.
Watched a few vids on JackFrags you tube, game looks boring, hopefully the other maps in the game are more interesting.

After playing the beta it just could be a good game, I'm still not convinced they can pull off a bug free release. We had a major server meltdown in Walker Assault last night and a couple of friends were getting major banding on Drop Zone which is a bit of a concern, they compared it to the frame rate lag on BF4 big maps. The game modes are definitely fun though.

Had a few shots playing this at a mates today, honestly its meh. Hopefully there's decent maps and an assortment of weapons on the full release.
Walker assault is completely 1 sided unless the rebels actually work together. Hopefully other maps are more balanced etc

Thank god the sniper rifle isn't a primary so all those sniping muppets wont be around haha.
Noticed all the "Good" pickups are generally in the forward/enemy area so if you want to get the great things, you have to be on the front lines, not sitting back.

Doubt it will last longer than Kz3 did. Iirc, there's no plans for custom servers or what not so yeah, it'll be strong for a month or so then die down.

Yeah I am not sold on this yet.  While the beta was fun with a group, getting a group into a server was painful.  If they don't plan on having better squad/group support in the release version and custom servers, I will be spending my time in fallout 4 :)

I felt a great disturbance in the internet, as if 9 million voices suddenly cried out in anger of being shot in the back and were suddenly silenced. I fear something terrible has happened.

THE START OF YOUR STAR WARS ADVENTURE

Hello everyone,

It’s been just one week since we launched Star Wars™ Battlefront around the world, and on behalf of our teams at DICE and EA, I wanted to thank you for joining us on this awesome journey. And what a start! Star Wars Battlefront is the biggest launch of a Star Wars™ video game ever and is the largest digital launch in the history of EA.

Posted Image

Even better than that, we’re thrilled that you’re having a lot of fun. We’ve been watching all of the great moments and memories you’ve been creating with your friends. You’ve proven that stormtroopers can actually aim, that the Millennium Falcon does indeed have it where it counts, and that the Force™ really is strong with Luke. In just a week, you’ve already taken down more than 15 million AT-ATs. Absolutely incredible.

Best of all, this is just the beginning. We have lots of new content coming over the next several months that will provide new ways to immerse yourself in Star Wars.

Posted Image

In two weeks, The Battle of Jakku launches. Taking place 29 years before the events of Star Wars™:The Force Awakens™, The Battle of Jakku is a free DLC pack* that adds two new maps (including one for popular modes like Walker Assault and Supremacy) and a new mode to the game. The coolest thing is that it’s the only place you’ll be able to experience the pivotal events that help shape the look of one of the next iconic planets in the Star Wars universe. We can’t wait for you to step onto Jakku for the first time with us.

Of course, we are also planning to support Star Wars Battlefront with new content well into the future.  We will be adding more of what you love about the game, like new maps and Star Cards, for free in the coming months, in addition to all of the content we have coming with Season Pass. We’ll have more to share soon.

Thank you again for your amazing passion so far for Star Wars Battlefront. Keep playing, keep your feedback coming and we’ll keep listening.

May the Force be with you,

Patrick Söderlund

*REQUIRES STAR WARS BATTLEFRONT FOR APPLICABLE PLATFORM (SOLD SEPARATELY).

Well, that was fun while it lasted. :/ Whatever they have done in the new patch has made to play like arse. If I'm not dying immediately after spawning, all my shots are missing targets or aren't even registering. I did not have this much trouble yesterday before the patch.

Not good news, I was planning to have a bash this evening.  I was already getting sick of the amount of homing shot/barrage players so this news doesn't sound like it going to make things better.  Were there released patch notes?

They released patch notes but not very extensive. Very vague. The homing shot spam on Jakku is through the roof because the map is so open.

In reference to my first post I think I may have worked out why I've had such a bad time. Since the release of Jakku I've had trouble finding matches in any other mode other than Turning Point. I can find matches but I have to keep trying for several minutes. I think the problem is that when I do find a match it's probably a server in a far away land, that's why my shots are going wonky. So I think I might see what happens when I change my search to just "main game". I think the other issue maybe that there aren't enough people with Jakku.

I'll do some experimenting and see what happens.
