I don't really care what the graphics look like - but I can tell you now (without even looking at those games), there will be no other game that is done as well in the driving department than Assetto - hence why I said, fuck everything else. I know I'm starting to sound like a PC sim elitist - but GT has absolutely nothing on it... in fact, I'd go so far as to say GT isn't even worthy of the sim title in comparison. Plus I'll be getting Project Cars and Euro Truck Scandinavia shortly so what's the point of getting all these older games when I won't even play them?

Ps. The mods are in abundance on Assetto as well... I just haven't started to download them yet.

if you're after sim over graphics then you're pretty much looking at iracing & racing with real life professional racing drivers.  can cost thousands to race on iracing though, i think if you just want all content it's a couple of grand, but it's also subscription based.  the guy who repairs our digial press here is heavily into it & talks about it.

on another similar note, played the new dirt the other night at a mate's place, was quite good.

Don't want to pay sub - I change my mind too much. The only thing iRacing has over Assetto is the tracks, MP/online and the ever evolving development (because it's a sub-based game). From what I've read, people can't come to any solid conclusion which has better physics and FFB of the two... more seem to enjoy Assettos driving which is the only thing I'm worried about at the moment.

just looked at that deal, those games aren't really worth anything unless you want them from day one.  witcher 3 is only about $AU20 right now on gog (google it) & no doubt you can get that other game for about the same a couple weeks after it's out anyway.

Well that's it - soon enough my 980s will be garbage in comparison to whatever comes out next. I'm going to look into selling parts (e.g. GPUs) online and see what sort of return I get when that time arises. That way I'll always have the latest.

think you use a ukraine vpn & then it's literally under $20 aussie, bit of a joke, mate here at work buys all his games in that type of fashion (usually from origin as they're the worst for it).  he bought it last night, also got the top project cars bundle off kinguin for not much over $50 (site i usually use), you can also google a discount code for them to make it less (which he did).

Yeah - I just used a Russian VPN and it calculates to $27 AUD. But I'm a little worried about getting it that way. Aren't they region locked? Is the voice over work only in Russian or do they have dual English/Russian?

I use a vpn when browsing at unprotected public networks. I've read that using a vpn for buying games is against Valve's terms and conditions, but is using a vpn while signed in to steam okay?

Using a VPN to mask your country of origin, for any reason and not just buying games, is against the SSA and get your account banned. Using a VPN because, say, you're using the office connection is fine.

So if the VPN you're using comes back as roughly your area/country, you're fine. For example, if you're setting up a VPN to your home system from the public place, you've got nothing to worry about, because it just makes you look like connecting from home. If it makes you look like you're on the other side of the world, regardless of the reason you're using it, you're in trouble.

the gog key is drm free, not associated with steam at all (gog is also affiliated/owned by projekt red).  gog also put on a song & dance against regional pricing yet has this time has done one of the worst cases of it (ie. $80+ in australia & $18 in ukraine).

did you use the vpn & actually purchase through steam gc ???  if so it'll be region locked to russia, but also in the russian language & if they detect it you could lose your steam account.
