Battlefield 4's first proper expansion pack is now out for Premium Members, and it's well worth diving into. We've got all the details for you here.

China Rising hits Battlefield 4

No doubt if you've been hovering around the Xbox One & Playstation 4 GG forums of late you would've picked up on how great Battlefield 4 is on these systems (potentially THE best FPS game available to date even with its buggy launch).

If you're lucky enough to have Battlefield 4 you'll be thrilled to know that EA & DICE have released an expansion pack for Premium members on ALL platforms. The China Rising Expansion pack takes the fight to the east featuring four new multiplayer maps based in majestic mainland China, along with a new game mode, new gadgets, new weapons and vehicles.

The contents of the China Rising Expansion Pack

The Maps:

• Guilin Peaks
• Altai Range
• Silk Road

The Weapons:

• L85A2 (Assault Kit)
• L96A1 (Recon Kit)
• MP7 (Engineer Kit)
• MTAR-21 (All Kit Weapon)

Long-term fans of the series will also be thrilled to find out that the two out of four maps featured in China Rising takes place in dense jungles, reminiscent of the Battlefield Bad Company 2 Vietnam maps Phu Bai Valley, Cao Sun Temple and Vantage Point. A lot of fans have been waiting for the return of green jungle maps since the release of Battlefield 3, and now they're back.

Guilin Peaks and Dragons Pass both feature dense jungles, mountains, caves and rice paddies. These maps focus on infantry combat with a good mix of vehicles. Silk Road is a big open desert with sand dunes and troughs (it looks a lot like Tatooine desert from Star Wars), focusing on vehicular combat. The last map, Altai Range, is also a big open map taking place on snowy mountains and plains, again focusing on vehicular combat.

The new maps also feature a bomber that can be called in by controlling a specific flag, working similarly to the bombing raid from Battlefield 1943. The bomber is on rails and will only take a straight path, rather than a playable vehicle, but it still mixes up the gameplay and adds to the maps.

A big plus veteran pilots is the return of the Air Superiority game mode - this time including Attack Helicopters Air Superiority as well as Jets Only Air Superiority.

China Rising is a great expansion pack with a lot of new fun content (and free for those that pre-ordered Battlefield 4 - however if you don't have premium you will have to wait until December 17th).
