Ubi got back to me after about a week or so - they suggested a full re-install, which I did (for the third time), and then it worked!  So playing that now, and enjoying it a fair bit.  Gameplay is same old Assassin's Creed, but the city just has that extra level of detail and activity to it that helps bring it more to life.  Generally very impressed, have taken a few happy snaps already (will post in the screenshot thread).  Mixing that up with a little Wander and Galactic Civilizations III (patch 1.03 is out, so taking it for a ride and seeing how it goes, will probably do a review after patch 1.1).

I never ended up looking much at New Vegas. I got it when I got a huge ID/Bethesda bundle for nothing on Steam but if I don't look at it before 4 I doubt I ever will lol.

Been breaking up Witcher a bit and gone back to Destiny and a bunch of games I have going on the Vita. Haven't wanted to OD on it and rush it.

Just a quickie - been playing This War of Mine, absolute cracker of a game... I"m hooked. Managed to survive 22-24 days my first go (can't remember exactly how long right now but was around there, might have been a bit more). I've made some very tough decisions as you do in this game.

Spoiler

Really recommend it to anyone. 10/10 thus far.

Yeah couldn't recommend This War of Mine more too Gasclown. The postgame support has been insane as well. With full character/campaign editor in there now. I've given out a few copies as gifts cause it's such a worthwhile "experience".

Currently still plugging away at the Witcher 3, not quite sure when i will finish it. Also had a dabble in the free version of Driveclub. Enjoyed it so much that i ended up buying it! Just need a club to join. Because the club leader from my clan went m.i.a!

Well I hadn't played 2033 and I didn't mind the second one so am enjoying it (apart from a few things). Will keep from reviewing it until I've finished it though... I think I'm very close now to finishing it - just got to some tower so hopefully tonight I can put it to rest and move onto the next game which I'm thinking Grimrock 1+2 or returning to Dishonored or Hitman.

As suspected - was near the end so a small/quick review for an old game.

Quite a few times I didn't know where to go. Whether that is/was bad level design or whatever, it was really frustrating at times. I also had a glitch near the end where a monster would spawn in and kill me instantly (absolutely nothing to avoid it). It took me quite a few goes to work around it and continue the story as the guy I was travelling would just stand there and not follow me. Added to that, I had next to no ammo left which made it doubly difficult. Thankfully it worked eventually. The ending was also anticlimactic and I just don't care for the story or the characters that much so although the graphics are fantastic, the depth and breadth isn't there which is what I expect from a top tier game these days.

Overall though, just like the second one, there's some good to even great moments and it's very atmospheric. Still recommend a play through for those that aren't as critical as myself.

6/10.

Ps. First FPS I've played from beginning to end with a m/kb (without reverting to a controller). Was awkward to begin with but it became comfortable in the end. Main problem was in panicky situations, I'd be pressing the wrong keys on the keyboard but I think with more practice, it'll only become/feel more natural.

Commiserations about the glitches Clowny.  I think the level design was intentionally unclear at times (I had the same thing, but didn't mind it, it 'felt' alright to me, but that doesn't mean it was alright, I can be a bit easy on game design, even as I'm fairly harsh on poor technical performance).

Still playing AC:Unity, with some Civ V as the complete veg-out game (taking a break from Gal Civ III until patch 1.1, and waiting for Paradox to patch EU4 after introducing some new bugs with Common Sense).  AC:Unity is the same old AC, but for some reason I don't seem to get as tired of the gameplay as others do, so I'm still enjoying m'self a lot, will probably do most of the side missions, least until/if they get hard.  Which reminds me, time to spam up the screenshot thread again :).

@Gasclown - I agree that the ending is a bit abrupt but for my part I really like the Metro games and are still one of the only FPS singleplayer games that I actually like. And I did enjoy some of changes they brought with the redux.

Yeah - well the graphics were certainly impressive and as I said the atmosphere is as well (which go hand-in-hand for added effect). For those alone, it's worth playing and it does have its moments of goodness but just doesn't quite grab me as an overall package. I was never hanging to go back and play it... I had to force myself to play/finish it each time.

Doesn't mean it's terrible though.
