dark souls 3 - just finished something hell difficult for me on the weekend, the boreal dancer.  for this boss i was unable to summon any aid & my character build made it EXTREMELY hard.  i tried being a tank, a normal balanced character & in the end i defeated it with the lightest build i could possibly use, think i was around 17% equipment burden.  as a result the battle was that frantic, took me over 3 hours just playing against her only.  several times i almost won, literally couldn't see health in the enemy health bar but it was still alive !!!!

now i'm playing against the dragonslayer armor boss.  i've defeated it twice now assisting other players, but i've got a bug where those i summon can't traverse the fog barrier !!!  hoping it's a ports issue & a router reset will help, but dunno.  if i can't get helpers i may be at the end of my journey here :S

You can't even summon the AI characters for that fight?

for boreal dancer you can summon the katana guy from the first area near fire link shrine if certain conditions are met (which of course i didn't meet).  for the second guy i haven't actually looked to see, but would rather use the real people, but if i can't i'll look into the npcs.

Played a couple of hours of the Overwatch Beta. Found it quite fun and found a few characters that I like. There were some annoying loses but I think that's the nature of solo queuing. It's a game that requires a level of coordination between team members. Plus learning the maps and who counters who will take time. I just wonder if the lack of character progression will turn off many console players who have grown up on shooters with Skinner boxes. Though, there are levels and loot boxes.

Been playing The Talos Principle. Been wanting to get it for ages and that sale was on Steam so nabbed it. Great stuff if you're into those puzzle type games (like me).

Sister's bf got a PS4 so my copy of Tearaway is getting a play she's enjoying it. Got to watch a fair bit while it was over here after being set up, it is impressive how clean the image quality of Tearaway is. I put my account on it as well since I'm not using it for now and have Driveclub, Flower and Cel Damage on it. I did play some Driveclub on their account I enjoyed it though honestly was kind of a bit underwhelmed by the graphics in person especially after seeing the image quality of tearaway. Controller is nice but I dont like how recessed the option/share buttons are I found them a bit hard to press. So I might get to play it on the rare occasion if it happens to find itself over back over here.

I've been mainly playing Grid Autosport(PC) it was alright but playing the career mode it just grew long in the tooth. Took my around 48 hours to do it and get to the end championship and that was without doing every available event. In comparison Grid took around 20 and Grid 2 maybe 25 hours.
Just far too long and far too repetitive 4 of the 5 disciplines took place on circuits so street tracks only appeared in one discipline, and as such it just started to feel the same long before the end. It was just too long for a career mode in a racing game with so few tracks and so few new ones to the series at that.

I missed getting to create your own livery and wished you could've raced for your own team like back in 1 rather then get season contracts to certain teams and certain cars.

A.I. liked to ignore you were there which wasn't helped by them clearly having stability and glue aids to keep them on the track, stable as all hell and near impossible to spin out. The only benefit to this was that it was amusing to set my teamate to attack on Bathurst and watch them bounce off a wall each lap and wonder how they never lost it each time, one time they got air.

Even though it appeared as DLC this time I do hope the Sprint tracks do keep returning I love the Okutama sprint course's elevation changes its like nothing else in an of the other race games I play.

I did like being able to qualify sometimes rather then forced to start last and that for some races championship standings and previous race standing affected the start line up, much better then having the player start last and your main rivals start first each time.

Nice one Spec B).  I've started playing Stellaris, the new Paradox space strategy game, and so far think it's excellent.  Only about 10 hours in, so can't really comment on anything in depth, but it's got the best balance between early exploration and diplomacy with other empires that I've seen yet, and an interesting tech system.  Really does feel like a breath of fresh air in the space strategy genre.  It's sad to say it, but it's a substantially better game imo than Gal Civ III.

Good to hear mate - been reading some good things on it so will get it eventually. Think I'll be getting me some Sherlock Holmes first though... not long now *rubs hands together*

Great to hear man! Definitely looking forward to it when I get the chance Speaking of Paradox I'm excited for some changes coming to Crusader Kings 2 allowing to change the makeup of games a bit more freely with various toggles. Great direction especially with how broad it's become with all the expansions and updates.

Aye, they've really done a great job expanding and deepening CK2 over the years, and that approach to "choose your own experience" goes well B).  I wonder what Stellaris will look like in four years time?

Yeah, I'm sure people are already holding out for a Star Trek total conversion mod like GOT for CK2 haha.

Decided to try out iRacing. Downloading it now... will come back later with thoughts. US$5 for 3 months - not really the cars and tracks I'd like for the base price and don't really want to spend more on it to get the stuff I'd like (at this stage). If it absolutely blows me away - then I'll think a little more seriously about digging deeper (into the wallet).
