super dumb question, is starships basically civilization in space ? if so, where does beyond earth fit into it ? i've read the steam page, says there's some cross over between beyond earth & starships but beyond earth is meant to be crap isn't it ? also seems starships is very cheap if it's pretty well the same thing.
All good

. I've been following it enough to get an idea of what it is (been a bit buggered to get the details, but I know enough to know I want to grab it, although it's releasing the same day as Cities: Skylines, so even if I grab it at launch (probably), I won't play it straight away), but the word is:
- Civ: Beyond Earth is Civ in the future on an alien planet. You still found cities, fill them with buildings, develop tiles, research tech and what have you.
- Starships is probably closer to 'XCOM in space' - the battles are turn-based affairs where your fleet takes on another fleet/other challenges, while there's a strategic overlay, where you move you fleet around, and do some research/diplomacy/ship-building (I haven't confirmed the last, because it's about as safe a thing to assume as any). As you go about doing this, you build up a federation of planets.
So more of a tactical and combat focus to starships, but still with a decent strategic element. In terms of the link between the two, I'm not clear on it, but it's probably something like you can use a Civ:BE savegame as your 'civ' in Starships - so if you were the Pan-Asian Corporation in Civ: BE, and won a Supremacy (one of the three approaches) victory, you could load this into your game as the base civ on your home planet.
