I think it's much like a wheel with a racing game - on another level... I haven't played many flight sims, let alone space sims. The flight sims I've played have been with a m/kb and it's shit... just as shit as using a controller for racing games.

I'll try it out and as I said before, it's a bit of an expensive exercise to see if it draws me in. If it does, then I'll get a TrackIR 5 which'll work good in racing games as well as flight/space sims. On the other hand, if I don't like it, I'll see if I can get a refund or sell it as quick as possible on eBay or to someone I know so I don't lose too much on it.

At least then I can say I'd given it a proper go... always wanted to try it out.

With all that said - Axe'll probably eat my wings for breakfast.

PS. TrackIR demonstration if you don't know what that is either...

That's a sweet, sweet stick Clowny .  On the by, War Thunder on PC, while it's not much of a looker (it's not bad, but it won't stretch your rig), has a full range of customisation options and will cost you nothing to try, and you can do a 'free flight' and 'custom mission' on sim for all the opening planes (and quite a few of the other ones) on sim without having to actually play online.  This week's been a bit brutal at my end, but once I'm 'stabilised', we could also play cross-platform coop.

TrackIR also awesome .

i dunno about head tracking, i tried it in gt5 & didn't like it, you turn your head as you do, but then you need to glance back with your eyes to see the screen (since the screen remains in the same place).  you've already got a wide screen for peripheral, if that's not enough you could always add another 2 =)

Aye, it's not perfect - I'm hoping WT gets Morpheus support, now that'd be perfect (and VR is perfect for a vehicle-based game where you're avatar is effectively sitting down) - but it can be handy .

Did my first delivery mate - bloody awesome and kinda relaxing (on the open roads), hooked already! Was a relatively long trip as well... I reckon around 20-25 minutes. Really need to get that TrackIR, pedals and shifter but the wheel is great... just not that realistic using paddle shifters (in a truck). Still need to map the indicators and a few other things to the wheel so I don't need to use the kb.

Hey - there's definitely no doughnuts (you can do) to go with the tea as well. I'm enjoying it immensely (no exaggeration). It's like an RPG in the way you progress as well.

Mapped some of the buttons to my wheel but I think I need to put more thought into it.

Fuck this game is good. Been so long since I've been looking for a game that's actually different to the standard bullcrap I've been playing for the past however many years. Did a delivery from Sheffield (England) to Rotterdam (Netherlands). No doubt the deliveries will get longer as the game progresses - can't wait for the marathon ones.

Great to hear mate, sounds tops .  It's deffo gone up my 'list'.  How do you get across the Channel - in the tunnel or via a ferry?  I guess the tunnel these days?  Hope the tunnel wasn't too claustrophobic .

Ferry to Netherlands you go to a dock, pay (a fee), select where you want to go to and then there's a loading screen, likewise when going to France, rather than the tunnel it's like a depot thing you stop at (looked like a train station of some sort, didn't really look properly though) and there's a loading screen.

Don't get me wrong with the loading screens though, I've started to do France and Netherlands and (edited in) now Belgium and Germany and there's no loading screens whatsoever... it's just across the English Channel where you get them.

There's plenty of tunnels and tough sections where you have to concentrate or you'll cause chaos. I'm level 4 or 5 now. You can run your own fleet (business), get loans from the bank which you obviously have to pay off every month, your own truck etc... you also have like a skill tree where you can add new things eg. what types of loads you can carry (dangerous goods types) - all sorts of stuff. I haven't done most of it though, just working for companies and they supply the truck just to get some good cash in the bank.

I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone if you are interested in that, it's that good. I suggest watching some of the videos on youtube and reading some reviews though. There is so much detail gone into the world I'm actually blown away... done 30-45 minute journeys and I've only touched England, Netherlands and France, it must be fricken huge. They're also about to release Scandinavia as well which'll be awesome. With that said, looks like you can board ferries in that expansion... http://blog.scssoft..../over-seas.html Then there's American Truck Simulator as well which is out soon as well. I'm completely onboard, will get all of them for sure. There's also a big modding community as well.

Here's a review from some rev-heads - seems like most people that play it are actually shocked how darn good it is.
