This - I bet I could think of 20 other games that'd make better movies off the top of my head.  Still, best of luck to them - they do have lots of great (if not particularly deep) characters in Borderlands, if they leveraged them and then wrote a good story around them maybe?

Alot of people are referring to Mad max being the "Borderlands movie", and i kinda see why haha..

It could be half decent depending on the direction they take but ultimately it WILL be a let down. Honestly dont think there's been a real successful "Game to movie" scenario apart from Prince of Persia and maybe Resident evil (Still going lol).
Unless its an anime movie, that would be the best thing they could do imo.

Im just twiddling my thumbs waiting for the 2 weeks on Sevastapol before Ripley showed up haha. Would make an awesome movie/mini series.

I have a soft spot for Silent Hill. Was an abnormally good production for a game film.

The only promising adaption I can see on the horizon is The Last of Us because there's real creative control being held by Neil Druckmann who made the original what it was and seems an easy move to the cinema in general. Most projects like Borderlands seem setup to fail right from being green lit lol.

I really feel at this point though the whole "game film" is kinda irrelevant as games do so much on their own. The technical level where at, etc. Uncharted is fantastic because you control that action film Indiana Jones moment, not because you watch it. If there ever was a window for Hollywood to get in on a piece of the action with games I think it's already gone, too many failures.
I used to dig the idea when I was younger though.

Yeah - so do I actually, it's a great flick! The second one was okay but didn't quite grab me like the first.

A very interesting one for the two of them!  I do think Turnbull's the only chance they've got for winning a second term, but I also think the Liberal party isn't liberal enough to cope with him, so it's an issue of whether Turnbull can be conservative enough for the reactionaries.  Either way, will be an interesting night .  Any bets?

Indeed should not rule Bishop out of the race. Who knows whether Turnbull and Bishop are in this together for the long-run or just for now to get rid of Abbott...

In terms of Turnbull and the liberal right wing - ch 9 live news coverage are saying he has made a deal to not repeat past mistakes i.e. he is to remain conservative on environmental issues. Could just be speculation about how he finally got the numbers to feel confident enough to challenge Abbott

I dunno - whilst the Libs look bad, the Labor party is even worse. With that aside, would prefer Turnbull or even Bishop, no idea why she doesn't go for it. I'd prefer either of them leading our country.

I personally rate the current Government as the worst in Australian history, and I've studied 'em back to Federation.  Labor aren't great, no question about that, but for all the current Government going on about economic management, their management of the economy (and international relations, and parliamentary procedure, and a bunch of other things) is so much worse than Labor's was it's not funny.  It's like they're a pack of kids with no experience, which is particularly odd as a good number of them had Ministerial experience under Howard.

Edit: The current Government have actually undermined conventions that are fairly fundamental to our form of Government.  That's their most forgivable offence in my eyes.  They can pass budgets that are neither liberal nor sound, and mess up our IR, but messing with our democratic fundamentals is something I can't give them a pass on.  It's subtle stuff, and it never makes the mainstream media, as it's all a bit complicated for the average punter to care about, but the people doing the undermining should know better (and could well do).

Indeed - Turnbull or Bishop are more preferable than Shorten, but are the libs strong enough after this mess to hold power? Maybe while Shorten is around. If Albanese was leader then it would be a different matter
