It's not only bollocks, but also not entirely true - plenty of games get cheaper pretty quickly on console, including some big titles from traditional publishers.  Ubi's struggling a bit with the whole transition from disks to digital I reckon (although, to be fair, they're far from alone!)

Eb games having bit of a sale going on atm.
Saw Alien on sale for $20-40 Pre-owned/New so not bad price if ya haven't played it yet. Bunch of newish all around the $50 mark.
Traded in a few ps4 games i never really played, got a couple catch up games + a couple more of them figurines for $5 haha. Only got SS goku to go for the set xD

Huge congrats on the engagement mate - I wouldn't worry about the car so much, as long as it gets you from A to B... focus on paying off a mortgage first (or saving up for one - wherever you're at). Stick to your shitty budget now, it'll pay off when you get older. You'll look back and know you made the right choice.
