Saw Civil War yesterday and I gotta say, Batman Vs Superman must've been truly terrible with the amount of gushing praise it's getting. It was ok, for a Marvel film but I'm not going to be thinking of it next week even.

I did just see Blade Runner on the big screen not that long ago so maybe that didn't help with how I found it <_<

Watched these two okay films. Both directed by the same guy, I think his name is Martin Scorsese, probably some unknown. The first one was called Casino and the second one was called Goodfellas. Might watch Donnie Brasco next.

Good definitely - just not as good as Goodfellas.

I might've done this before so just ignore if I have and no ones interested but I'm a big user of Mubi, a film streaming service but curated. It's more like a revolving online cinema rather than the shotgun of stuff you get on Netflix etc.

Anyway here's a link for 30 days free on it https://mubi.com/tel.../global/m6uv1kb

It's completely altruistic as I also get 30 days free or even get a Chromecast out of it :D

Nice one Smokey :).  We watched some stuff on Mubi a whiles back, and it was very good.  I tend to just roll with Netflix at the moment, easier than trying to keep track of multiple services, but I found Mubi quality, and highly recommend it.  Graph - tends to have quite a few European movies as well ;).

Warcraft:
Dunno why this is getting bad reviews, was a great movie :/

London has fallen:
If you liked Olympus has fallen, you'll like this. Nothing spectacular, same shit different locations really.

Grimsby:
Yeah save yourself time and avoid this one.

Imitation game:
Not really my kinda movie, but i enjoyed it. Would recommend.

Cheers Saintsy :)  Almost watched a movie (been watching more TV on Netflix of late for some reason) and saw Grimsby on the PS Store, and something about the picture made me think it was worth avoiding.  Will have to give Warcraft a look.  Am a fan of Cumberbatch, so deffo planning to check out the Imitation Game (and Dr Strange :D) at some stage.

The one im sure we're all praying for to be good.
Independence day: Resurgence.

So after forking out about $45k for tickets/popcorn/drinks/candy and sitting next to a muppet that was coughing the whole fucking way through the movie ==", can say it's good for what it was.

Not gonna try ruin it, it felt like a cash grab to me, but it was still a great watch. Cheesy 1 liners, 90s references, convenient timing and Jeff Goldblum lol, the nostalgia was certainly there.
First hour was great, but kinda felt a little dragged out/lost focus in the 2nd half.

If you loved the first one (Which i think is universally loved lol), then yeah you should go see this, just dont be expecting it to live up to the first (But is still great in its own set)

You've gotta be setting world records for popcorn, drinks and candy there :o.  Great to hear it was enjoyable at least :).

Sick to death of King Arthur remakes, but this actually looks like a decent watch.

Nice B).  Strange is my favourite of all of them, but should be a few decent flicks coming up.  Agree that Ben Affleck doesn't hold a torch to that bloke that did the recent good Batman trilogy (got a mental block, dag nab it, but top actor).

Watched Unbroken last night, quality POW flick, well worth a watch if you're looking for that kind of thing.  Draws a good balance between showing how harsh it was without being overly graphic.

I'm liking this one-a-year Star Wars film approach. More sci-fi the better if you ask me.

Too right, not enough sci-fi out there these days.  Hopefully Star Wars and Star Trek doing well will encourage others :).

Watched Fargo (1996, just checked on IMDB and apparently it won 2 Oscars) this arvo and wasn't terribly impressed (was surprised when I looked it up and saw the two Oscars, maybe 1996 was a slow year, or I have terrible taste, or both? :)  That said, some of the acting was very good, it was more the story and pacing that didn't really grab me, so the best actor in a leading role Oscar gels with me, while the best directing Oscar makes me think I should have studied more arts or something) - not bad, but just kind of 'whatever'.  Also watched Synchronicity yesterday, and wasn't terribly impressed by that either (although it didn't win any Oscars) - again, not 'bad', but didn't really grab me.

Also watched Chittagong somewhere in all of this (not having a Netflix binge, not at all.....), and I liked that it showed history from a different perspective than we usually see it over here, but it also was a bit middling in other areas.

I'd like to think I've kept the quality of the writing in this post at 'middling' to be consistent :P.
