Well, even though I probably won't finish it until 2016 (according to Axe) - I'd say hands down, without a doubt this years GotY is DA: Inquisition. No surprises there really.

Haha, I think I was only joking, although we should check back in 15 months and a weeks' time ;).  Finished Shadow of Mordor last night and enjoyed it immensely.  They get a little more creative with Tolkien's lore than I'd like, but don't step over the line too much (they were better than Peter Jackson by some margin) and the gameplay itself is top notch.  Enjoyed myself all the way through.  So an easy:

#1: Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor

But then it gets tricky.  There's the excellent but a tad minimalist MGS:GZ, the very enjoyable Infamous:SS, the thoughtful and contemplative Transistor, the emotionally-wrenching Walking Dead: Season 2, the evocative Valiant Hearts and the atmospheric Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishments.  Hell, luckily for me right now DriveClub launched like it did, or it'd be a contender as well.  Reckon I'll play another few hours of Sherlock Holmes to get a better feel for it, before throwing in votes for #2 and #3.

Oh but I was being serious... Anyway, jokes aside, isn't it great that RPGs are at the top, particularly this early into the cycle? We both know what'll be at the top of the list next year as well... Witche®tty grubs for tucker anyone?

Well, I've played enough Sherlock Holmes now to know that while I'm really enjoying it (if you're a Sherlock Holmes geek, there's a lot to enjoy :D), it's not quite a AAA/GOTY contender.  Still a top game and worth a look for fans of that kind of thing, but that's the last it'll get mentioned by me in this thread.

So we've got:

#1: Shadow of Mordor

But #2 and #3 are tough as.  I'm going to go with quality here, and put MGS: Ground Zeroes in there.  What it showed in gameplay was stellar, and MGS:V is likely to be a real treat (well, unless the somewhat tacky pictures of scantily clad women on the cardboard boxes get it dragged from store shelves.....).  As for #3, it's damn hard to pick - I think it's going to be Walking Dead: Season 2, by a nose.

#2: Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes
#3: The Walking Dead: Season Two

Cheers for organising Spec, I wonder which game'll take the prize?

Cut it close!

1. This War of Mine
2. Alien Isolation
3. Banner Saga

This War of Mine to me feels like a pretty distant 1st. Really stood out for me. Thoughtful, intense but still really accessible in terms of control. In a market saturated with pretty shallow stuff to do with war and conflict it really is an important release.

I haven't played all that many new titles this year so my one vote goes to Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes. It's short but I had a lot of fun getting into the stealth, listening to the cassettes and reading the codex for the backstory. So:

1. Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes

As much as I play Destiny, I really can't bring myself to nominate that game haha. Would probably get Social/Community GOTY from me though ;).

I couldn't vote for TLoU remastered or Don't Stave: RoG, so I gave Destiny a vote :)

Destiny is a hard thing to vote on, its addictive but not for the right reasons, as its not the gameplay or story that keeps drawing me back, as you said Live, its the social aspect ;)

I am only here because Live asked...

I don't know what to vote for to be honest. There was nothing that really blew me away this year that is worthy of a GOTY vote. Every game has had problems.

Umm...

1. The Evil Within (Near the end, but have liked it thus far)
2. InFamous Second Son

Haha Hasan, maybe think of them as 'diamonds in the rough'?  Technically it's the best game you played this year, so it doesn't need to be as good as last year (good luck anything this year matching TLoU ;)), just the best this year, even if it wouldn't make your all-time top 10 or something like that :).

It's not going to get a vote, because the network still isn't right (a lot better than it was, but it's clunky as hell), but if it had launched without bugs, DriveClub would have comfortably been my number one pick.  If they can get their network sorted, it's going to be huge next year when the PS+ edition launches and it's got a decent chance of making my all time top-10 and not getting a GOTY vote in it's launch year!  If they don't fix 'em, then it'll be the biggest wasted opportunity in gaming I've seen in a long time.
