Haha, well, ethically speaking, from what I've heard they're a good match ;).  That's a huge amount of money to spend, I wonder if Activision will be the kiss of death for Candy Crush as well?

I don't know King do seem to have staying power that other big mobile devs lost or have started to fall, like Zynga and Rovio. So it will be interesting to see how it all goes, I don't know if most of their crossovers would work, I feel that their audiences don't have two much crossover between the companies. On the working side they do have Skylanders, so that could be something.

Activision also don't really have much mobile stuff just a few Call of Duty games I think, so this also does get them a massive brand name and mobile devs while keeping all their current devs on work they know.

Cant believe im about to say, but the new cod is actually half decent :/
Had a few good games last night at a mates but then the lag kicked in. Just too fast for me these days haha.

Zombies on the other hand was disgusting.. Once was a great add on to cod games, now just a over milked cash cow that they've ruined to no end..

Core COD is good and Zombies bad?  Where's the real Sainsty, I want him back :P. JJ of course :).  Glad to hear the new CoD looks good, but sorry to hear Zombies has been over-milked :(.  Don't disagree about it being fast - I swear it's got faster than it was, although I may have just got slower :).

The Game Awards(On tomorrow at 1pm AEDT), they are stating there will be 10 world premiers at it. Will be a mixture of new game reveals/announcements and just trailer or gameplay reveals of already announced games(Farcry Primal is confirmed).

I'll try and give it a watch again this year just hope the sound is better this year it wasn't too great last year.

Cheers for the heads-up Spec B).  I'm a bit smashed today, might check it out and see how it goes.  I know what you mean about it being a bit average, I don't think I was able to watch all of it last year.  Will hit you up on Steam chat if I remember (head's real hazy, shoot me a msg if I forget) and we can have a competition to see who can stick with it for longer :).

Well watched the games awards along with Axe. Wasn't too bad but I wasn't expecting much really just went into it treating it as an awards show. Did have some ads/spurking but it didn't really bother me since I know its necessary to get the money in to run the whole thing.

Audio was good this year didn't have any complaints with it, balancing was much better.
Felt the length was good as well, still has an issue of some awards barely getting a passing mention, Im fine with awards not all being presented on stage but wouldn't mind a bit more time on ones that are given out. Personal opinion but I don't agree with some of the awards chosen to be given on stage(esports team, trending gamer) they wouldn't exist without the games so I feel they should be secondary to game awards. They do have large audiences and do bring them to games but games would still exist with out them.

The Iwata tribute was good and well done.

A few of the announcements there:
  • Psychonauts 2 was announced for crowdfunding Announce Teaser!
  • Rocket League coming to Xbox One
  • Batman game by telltale as well as Walking Dead: Michonne info - 3 episode series starting next Feb.
  • Shadow Complex Remastered announced - free on PC for limited time
  • Rock Band VR Announced for Oculus Rift - Trailer
  • Witcher 3 won the GOTY

Aye, I thought it was a better show this year, and 2 hours a lot better than however long it went for last time.  Spec was particularly excited about Telltale taking on another franchise ;).  CDPR did well at the awards, netting best developer as well.

UPDATE: It's official. Sony has released a statement and a short video confirming it is collaborating with Hideo Kojima and his newly formed studio Kojima Productions on a new title that will be a PlayStation 4 console exclusive.

Great to hear Kojima's back on his feet and got things going again, I can't think of another creator that's been so consistently good at what they do for so long.  Looking forward to see whatever they come up with :D.  Shame it's PS4 exclusive given that his games had been multiplat for a while now (not for me personally of course, but for Kojima fans over on Xbox).  Here's the new studio website:

http://www.kojimaproductions.jp/

On another note, was in town yesterday Christmas shopping (got a two and a half year old niece, which is a bit of a tricky spot to buy for, for kids - lots of stuff for 1 year olds, and lots of stuff for three years plus, but I digress......) and saw a JB Hi Fi promotion for PS4 that was pitched as something like "you too could enjoy the enviable life of a PS4 player", I know it's just advertising, but I strongly dislike that stuff that's subtly (well, not that subtly) saying "you're not as good without this".  I know heaps of stuff is advertised like this all the time, but notice it more when it's something I use (for example, I'm almost oblivious to the use of this advertising technique for women's clothing :)).

both platforms really need to lift their games.  just looked on metacritic (yes some of you hate it but it is what it is) & both systems have stuff all games i'd play and many are just remakes of the old stuff i already have (what ever happened to original ideas ?).

on the other hand pc has twice as many new release top scoring games as either system & many are 'exclusives' so to speak.

Agree - but I think next year we'll see a lot of new stuff come out for PS4 (Uncharted 4, Horizon Zero Dawn, The Last Guardian etc).

This year was a joke (exclusive wise), apart from Bloodborne. Don't own an Xbone yet.
