yeah you listen to them at the start of the game, buy by the end you skip them speaking & speed read the text.

Maybe that's what you young, ADHD whippersnappers do, but us slower-moving old timers don't mind listening to the dulcet tones of the various voice actors :P.

Okay, maybe I've skipped one or two as well ;).

another game with high end i7s in the recommended, at least they're not putting them in the minimum like other new releases have been doing for not reason.

Your rig will be fine - you're only gaming at 1080p. There'll come a time where I'll just get a 1080p monitor for gaming, that way I'll get more life out of the 980s.

there's been some screenshots leaked from the PS4 version (guessing as the button legend is PS-centric);

well looking at it i'd say it's safe to say you start before the nukes go off, then rush to a fallout shelter before all hell breaks loose.  that may not be new news, but i haven't been following it as i want everything to be totally new & fresh when i get to play it.  booked the day off work back in june for it lol, fingers crossed.

Fingers crossed there's no issue with your ISP on that day :).  Screens look plenty nice for an open-world RPG, looking forward to it :D.

just had a proper look at the screens, some things i noticed;

- in one of the pipboy map shots it looks like there is a vertibird on the ground or something
- looks like you meat the dog at the red rocket service station
- the power armour in the service station looks incomplete or something, one leg & arm don't appear to have the proper armour on them, maybe that's a quest to find the parts ?
- i'd say the beginning of the game includes getting to the fallout shelter before the bomb goes off
- the entire game is in some futuristic language that we'll all have to learn in order to play it correctly.  so far i think 'hablar' either means 'talk' or 'steal', will be a bit of a learning curve that's for sure.

Typo or freudian slip?  I know in the future that quality meat is hard to come by :P.

Possible 'intentional' reference to Dog Meet?

So yeah - played a little bit more over the weekend (although not as much I would have liked to).

Built the first parts of my base, I haven't ventured out that far - got some military radio signal and have made my way down to where they were broadcasting it from.

Wish I had more time to sink good chunks of hours into it. While it's not anything particularly different to Fallout 3, it still does a good job of sucking me in... don't know what it is - can't pinpoint it.

No major bugs/glitches this way (yet). Still waiting for mods to fix the HUD in 21:9 ratio (it stretches it) so been playing it in 16:9 with black bars which kinda ruins the immersion.

They should be adding SLI support in there as well but there's a fix for that which is easy to do yourself.

Got this gun last night that you fill with junk (for ammo). I wish you could load it with shitty weapons/apparel as well though.

been wanting to write in here but been crap at work :S

here's my thoughts, let me start off complaining as usual (take this with a pinch of salt, i fkn love this game !!!, also look out it may contain some spoilers):

- i've got maybe 10 settlements, they're getting hard to look after & there's no sign of the number you can have letting up.  i think i'm going to have to leave some unattended, even without settlers to take care of those i use a lot

- 2 of my settlements are pretty much fortresses, with 16 & 18 people, all armed & armored & all the turrets etc.  they're almost completely walled around 360 but when i was attacked once some of the enemies were within the base as if they'd spawned there.  pretty annoying if they can spawn within your walls as it makes the walls pointless

- you don't seem to encounter much at times, but other times the world is really alive, doesn't seem like there's a middle ground

- go into a building, clear it out, exit, forget to do something & go back in & there's a heap of baddies in there again.  i'm not a fan of procedural generation or whatever you want to call it.  i'd rather have it all planned out & that was a bit annoying tbh

stuff i'm over the moon about;

- having settlements is great, building stores, equipping people & all that.  having to build the stores really makes you feel like you're a bit of a pioneer of sorts

- i've got fking artillery cannons !!!!  throw down a flare, boom boom boom.

- behemoths, someday i will kill one, i think there were 3 in fallout 3, but they're a random encounter now, i've seen 3, managed to get away from one without it seeing & killing me

- a lot of quests feel meaningful & have a direct impact on how you play etc, others are reverting to 'go here, do or kill, return' etc etc

- crafting - just when i think i've worked out my kit i end up tweaking it again, be it guns, armor or even aid items

think i'm level 28 atm with over 30 hours & i've only done maybe 2 or 3 story quests :S  haven't been this addicted to a game in a loooooong time.

Crikey - multiple settlements... I spent 4-5 hours just building my first one. lol It's fucking well thought out though. We should have a happy snaps settlements thread. I only just walked out my first settlement the other day which is when I picked up that military signal (as posted above) which I attended to last night and did just one mission after that lol... I'm gonna be here till 2099 playing this! Was asked to join the Brotherhood of Steel last night but shutdown after that. Hopefully get some more in tonight.

Also - so many times I've panic fired when I've been sneaking around only to catch a glimpse of the dog (forgetting I'm not all alone) which scares the living shit out me. haha.

there's a really powerful perk i've got two things in if you're alone so i've been going it solo where possible (gives you extra damage or health plus carrying capacity iirc).

one thing forgot to say, i've got 4 power armors all sitting in hoists just looking sweet at sanctuary hills.  i was there & the gunners attacked the camp, my settlers all jumped in power armors lololol.  i was peaking as i couldn't figure out how to get them out at first, how i've built a structure for them & hidden them away so they can't have them.  i'm literally just hoarding haha.

I only used power armour once - where you first save those dudes fighting that big fucker... haven't used it since though. The game has been pretty easy thus far, even without it. Think I'm only level 8 or 9 - so early days (for me) still.
