moving through the phases of fallout that i've always done now.  into the phase of using energy weapons, which will be followed by explosives & then later melee.  it's just something i do to try & break the grind up a little & keep it fresher.  i much prefer the regular guns, but the energy weapons are pretty sweet, using 2 pimped up laser rifles, one as a sniper & the other as a kinda battle rifle.  still backed up with a shotgun & suppressed 10mm though.  trying to get legendaries for them all of course & then mod as i like & i'm pretty sure i have everything in a legendary version.

boarded a sailing ship full of robots last night, was an interesting break from it.  also scored 2 more sets of power armor so my man cave is overfull now & possibly needs a do-over.

Yeah I ran out of room in my power armour section of le man cave last night, needs a rebuild or a new building.  I will make this one settler-proof so I dont have to keep removing the cores.

I just got the
Spoiler
on my second play through (didn't get it on the 1st), so will be trying that puppy out this evening. Got distracted making cutting fluid and building artillery at settlements.

Hit level 30 and havent been to diamond city yet.  Still exploring, doing settlement & side quests and building settlements up.

i had a thing fly over me on fire early on, but no idea where it landed, i'm guessing that could be the ufo ???

have you scored many paints for your power armors ?  i've only got minuteman, BoS, vaultec, military & flames i think.  not sure what others are out there.

Nice looking/sounding weather mod... particularly for this early.

This ain't a bad one either - makes it a bit more green (or as I'd call it, more Last of Us'ish).

He's using another mod with it as well:

Possibly using a reshade mod too.

But yeah - I do like the look of that, it's still believable enough to be a wasteland and it makes it look more interesting. Gonna download it and try it out today.

the thing that ALWAYS kills this game for me is the fact it's 200 years after a nuclear war, yet there are still the remnants of bushes & many other objects that should've long rotted away.  i like the scenery, but they should've at least made it a little bit believable.  2 other things that kill it for me is you'll unlock some bunker that has never been opened before, yet you'll find bloatfly meat or something like that in there (honestly wtf !!!!).  also they've kinda killed the fallout universe a little with the guns.  F3 & vegas stayed very true, using the original weapon looks & even names.  this game has included a couple of guns from the others in the series, yet they look nothing like them.  the power armors are on course, but the weapons are just totally random, & aren't even plausible (ie. the gauss rifle as a serious piece of pre-war military hardware, the new weapon is ridiculous, yet the original was very buyable).

someone needs to make an 'authentic mod' & fix the issues above (possibly make it 50 years after nuclear disaster, cut back the bushy scenery & reskin the weapons).

Had a good run yesterday, finally made it to diamond city (level 40) and did a few of the small side missions in there before leaving and continuing to my settlement takeover mission.

Before heading there I finished building my 21st settlement.  Apart from Sanctuary, I build the basics in each one (2 storey/10 bedroom building, food, water, beacon, power, defenses, perimeter wall and big ass cannon.)  Once the settlements get to between 6~8 settlers, I turn the beacon off.  I pretty much have artillery coverage for most of the map but it did take a while.

I still have some more settlements to discover and setup, so wont be progressing the main story much til I finish my personal quest to get all the settlements set up.

i haven't played in a couple nights, not sure if i can this week as the rest of the days are all 40 degrees & over :S

@ jyks; what's your thoughts on turning the beacon off ?  is that just due to the micro management that starts with them or just happy with them being small & able to blow stuff up for you ?

Mainly to save on the micro mgt of the smaller ones.   6 Gives me 2 for food, one for defense barracks, one big ass cannon and 2 for supply routes to castle and sanct.   So long as they stay happy and man the cannon, job done.   I tend to put up at least one missile turret and a lot of machine guns ones.  I have a kinda template building I put up, concrete for the outside walls, plants and water on the inside so they dont have to leave the building, makes it easier to defend.  Assign them all to beds in that structure so they dont go wandering off and leave the door open ;)

Sanct & castle are at 19 settlers and that starts to get a bit micro-ish when you add stalls, scavengers, etc.  I have tried deckin me out in different outfits so I can at least tell whose doing what, but even that was painful with 2 large settlements.

My Sanct settlement is a massive set of structures now, takes a while with no mods, but I literally scrap everything in each new settlement to 'fund' building Sanctopolus up.  I will get some screen shots when its close to finished, but thats still a long way off :)

you probably already know, but you can have supply lines from say sanctuary to red rocket, red rocket to drive in, drive in to castle etc etc & that still relays/shares all the resources.  i've only ever had one 'provisioner' killed, was but a legendary gutsy backed up by a legendary robot thingy (can't remember what they're called but they're the humanoid looking ones that are the stronger of the bots i've found).  i think they grounded him 3 times before he actually died properly & i had to set up a new supply line.

Yeah I just use 2 in case one goes down.    I stumbled across one of mine in a fire fight with mutants near the combat arena, so I threw in a smoke grenade.  Needless to say it didnt end well for that provisioner, or the super mutants ;)   From then on I run 2 just in case, I tend to throw those smoke grenades around . . . a lot ;)

game is grinding on me now.

i'm sick of the procedurally generated quests, like settler has been kidnapped, raider troubles, ghoul troubles, super mutant troubles, clear out X location, get capacitor from X location, baby sit squire, escort BoS scribe etc etc.  it's just rubbish & it's double rubbish that even if you don't accept these quests they come up anyway when you're off doing something else AND THEY EVEN EXPIRE !!!!!

it's definitely the weaker of the recent fallouts in my eyes, i'd give it a 6.5-7 out of 10.  the only thing it is really good at is burning your time as it continually throws things at you that you feel compelled you need to do or suffer some form of consequence.

this generated stuff really is coming at the expense of good design & well thought out missions/quests/battles & the more i play the more i can see that.  at first go it feels as though it's a major plus that the world refreshes itself & will always have things to do.  but in the end it's not an MMO, it's a single player game set in an unbelievable world which as a result is no longer immersive for me.

i'm now spending my time trying to explore, but it's so fking annoying having quests i've not accepted for the settlements come up & then failing them after X number of fast travels.  it's also annoying clearing out an area that's occupied by a specific faction with a leader for it to only refresh just because it can (would be cool if another proper one moved in or even a different faction took it over).  it really does feel a little like farcry 2 in this regard, where you'd clear out a check point, travel down the road a few metres, turn around & it'd be fully occupied again, so annoying !!!!

going to stick with it obviously, but the game has now passed it's used by for me, played last night & could only manage 30 minutes before switching it off.

Haha I was just reading up on how to stop those annoying quests, there are quite a few posts in relation to that on the reddit sub-forum.

I had the same issue last night, got back drunk from a band meeting and just wanted to go exploring, then yet another kid napping blah blah . . .

I am going to try and implement some of the suggestions I read on the reddit posts tonight and see how it goes.
