My question is - where is Luke in the new trailer?

Probably following in his masters footsteps and isolated himself on a planet far far away as the world no longer needed him until now, where a new young Jedi will come along, he'll mentor him after han and chewie come along and disrupt Luke's peace and quiet.
He'll probably survive the first movie then follow in his masters footsteps, die at a crucial moment in the second movie.
Meanwhile C3P0 is doing nothing like he always does while R2 goes all badass on the new rolly- polly droid beeping "This is my movie bitch!"

Was pretty impressed with the trailer - note that doesn't suggest I don't think Saintsy has a good chance of having called it right ;).  I hope Luke and Han last the whole trilogy m'self (although Harrison's not getting any younger - he has to last the whole trilogy too...), but I wouldn't be surprised if there aren't a few key killings-off through things.

Deffo hope R2D2 has a good showing B).

Sounds like a wrap to me.

Here's my thoughts on the latest trailer...

I actually thought it was pretty epic. It showed us quite a lot but really didn't tell us anything (to ruin the story). I love that even the little things, like the instrument panels in spaceships have that classic 70s look again and the jump to light speed has the classic lines in the MF and Han and Leia in each others arms, the Han and Chewie Endor style hands on heads moment and even the X-Wing vs TIE fighter battles. Everything is as "classic" Star Wars as it could be. Then there's the epic soundtrack of course (which goes without saying). Also - how the original stories are like a myth - Han having to confirm, it's true - all of it!

With all that said, it will never live up to my expectations, simply because it can't match rewinding the clock back to when the originals came out and being a kid going to the movies with your mum and dad and watching them for the first time. At that time - there were no movies like it... it was truly something special, groundbreaking and even life changing.

As long as these new ones are not shit like the prequels (which won't be hard)... then I'll be satisfied.

Aye, just not having George Lucas at the helm means they'll be a step up.  I was pretty impressed with JJ Abrams' handling of the Star Trek movies (and he's done other stuff well as well), so all being well, they're in good hands.

That said, to be safe, we should all watch Phantom Menace the day before watching the new movie.  Guaranteed to make it look relatively better, however it turns out :D.

Never - saw it at the midnight release and will never watch it again.

Not sure why people are getting themselves over hyped for this. Don't they remember what happened last time?

Yeah but that was with Lucas at the helm and without the classic characters that made Star Wars what it is. As I said, it won't live up to my expectations anyway.

Lol. Sorry, thought this was a gaming site :P

Movie could be good. The trailers I've seen actually look interesting.
Disney have been quite smart with the way they've been using Marvel and it's ip, so I'm quite keen to see how they go with Star Wars.
Could Disney become a haven for good sci-fi/Fantasy??

I don't understand the sudden positive feeling behind Star Wars at all either in all seriousness. It wasn't that long ago that Star Wars was a joke and the franchises credibility was completely in the toilet.

Or maybe I'm just reaaally that done with Star Wars at this point :S. I used to be a fan to the point of wanting to get unaltered versions of the original trilogy released etc. Instead we got Jar Jar, cartoons and loads of awful, awful games. Now I wouldn't even care if they did get released after all these years.

Well that's it - by the look of the trailer, it's about as classic Star Wars as it could be and that's what I have essentially been waiting for for 22 (or whatever) years since Jedi released.

Heard on the radio this morning that the next Aliens movie will be at least partly filmed in Australia - Saintsy and Clowny, if they're taking extras.... :D.

Also, while looking for it, looks like Quantum Entanglement is real, score Mass Effect for picking it B).  Some pretty potentially profound things about how the universe works that we've got pretty much no clue about now confirmed (although given we don't even fully understand our own biology, despite living it and having chopped up countless bodies for medical research, I always find it slightly amusing when people suggest surprise at some new discovery that shows we don't understand the universe near as much as we think we do :)).
