GT5 was wrought with issues when trying to launch (was it delayed by 2 or 3 years in the end ???), i hope project cars doesn't face the same problems.

They would have delayed it probably because of the onslaught of other games releasing and used that as an excuse to better it. I think it's great that they've delayed it... it wasn't on the top of my list to buy faced against DA:I and Far Cry 4.

GT5 was also on the PS3, notoriously difficult hardware to code for, which would have contributed to the delay, hopefully something that won't be making life harder for the devs on CARS.  I reckon it'll be pretty safe for March next year.

80% or more of gt5 was also just a copy/paste from gt4.

Haha, that's enough trollin' ;).  80% of the cars were based on GT4 models, but the amount of work involved in the 20% premium cars was more than the 80% of the old cars combined.  Either way, it wouldn't have been the assets that were the issue but the engine - and that had to be built from the ground up for the PS3.

i just checked the stats, more than 80% of the cars were from gt4.  i wouldn't call that a 'ground up' build lolol.

good game, but let's call it what it was (& that was a ridiculously delayed game that was a fairly light rebuild of an old game).

There's a huge difference between the assets that go into a game and the engine that drives it.  I recently put together a new system for processing data at work (nothing big, I'm not a programmer, we just needed the job done and I was the closest we had) - the data going into the system were very, very similar to what they had been in the past, but the 'engine' (the code that manipulated the data) was around 50% new.  GT5 had a lot of old data, but the old data was being used by a new engine.

The awesome thing about those standard cars from GT4... they're probably bringing them across to the PS4 so they look even shitter than they did on the PS3.

Not too shabby at all!  The lighting isn't quite up to the bar set in DriveClub, but ohhh the smoothness, not an aliased edge in sight B).

I wont be playing this bad boy, as I generally suck at anything racing oriented.   There are a bunch of WpR peepz getting this though, AroGantz might confirm, but I think they will be on PC and maybe some on PS4.

Sarge and myself will both be on PS4 mate, not sure about Marcus but I am guessing he will be going low class with a PC.

Testimonials from professional drivers for PCars, I'm not sure if it's legit or a thinly veiled promo though http://www.isrtv.com...r-testimonials/

Haha, well given they're actually working on the game, I think they've got two layers of incentive to be positive, but just having that many actual drivers involved is a good thing.  It does sound a bit promo-ey (particularly when Nicholas Hamilton starts talking about it being a game for gamers of all levels (which it may well be, but I'm not sure if Hamilton is necessarily the best person to be spruiking that line)), but it's close to release, and that's what any game does then :).

it does have a very good setup for catering to casual drivers as well as the serious sim guys though.

Exactly, are they really thinking "this is crap but I am paid to say it" or is truly how they feel? It doesn't matter either way since it is a day one for me.

I haven't forgotten about that review Graph but I want to finish my simrig first to give it a proper go :)

Awesome. I put another good session into mine today and would have finished but I need a new dropsaw blade, I reckon an hour and a half tomorrow and it should be ready for paint.
