Bungie is putting up a Hot Fix later tonight to hopefully fix some of the server connection issues peole have been having lately. It'll start to go live at around 1am AEDT/ 3am NZDT on Wednesday and the Bungie servers will be down for maintenance for several hours.

Quote

Hot Fix - 10/07/2014

NOTE: The following update will be applied at approximately 7AM Pacific on Tuesday, October 7th. The maintenance window for this work will interrupt Destiny services for several hours. You will be unable to play the game during that time.

Summary
Most of the changes included in this update will improve the technology that enables players to connect to Destiny. The player experience will remain unchanged, aside from the stability for some users who have encountered issues connecting to servers.

Client fixes
  • Added more data logging for matchmaking systems
  • Improved connectivity failure handling to reduce beaver (Kick To Orbit events) KTOs
  • Improved logging of player disconnections
  • Internal tools fixes to speed up our release process
  • Fixes to the roster system to allow us to tune the frequency of roster updates on Xbox One
  • Fixed a bug that allowed users to quick scope on some weapons
Server Fixes
  • Security fixes
  • Server performance improvements
  • Fixes to reduce the frequency of some KTOs
  • Better logging to help diagnose connectivity problems
  • Fixes to some Centipede errors that were exclusive to specific player characters

Sorry Jykes. Wish I could be a bit more excited about the upcoming DLC and gear but I feel the need to beat the current Raid on hard mode first after our first not-so-successful Sunday run. Which means getting to level 30 to make it go smoother, which means playing more raids and hoping at least a couple of us receive the right/remaining piece of raid armour this week to reach that level, which then means more grinding and finding materials to fully upgrade said armour piece afterwards...

But after that, I'll be happy to be excited too :P.

The most recent hotfix (1.0.2.2) for Destiny goes live on October 14th. This hotfix includes a number of changes to weapon balance across archetypes (e.g., lowering Auto Rifle effectiveness and increasing Scout Rifle damage output), specific weapons (Vex Mythoclast and Pocket Infinity) and includes a number of fixes to issues with the Templar encounter in the Vault of Glass.

We're still working on a larger update which will address under-performing Exotics and overall class balance.

General
Fixed a bug where the Valkyrie-O5X Ship was the same as the Aurora Lance

Classes
Titan
Unbreakable: Fixed an issue with the perk granting more agility than intended
Warlock
Brimstone: Perk can now activate if player is airborne

Weapons
General
Fixed some issues related to quick weapon swapping

Auto Rifles
Base Damage decreased by 2%
Reduced Precision Damage multiplier from 1.50 -> 1.25 (head shot bonus)
Stability decreased by 4% - 17% (driven by stat value)

Hand Cannons
In-air accuracy now increased

Scout Rifles
Base damage increased by 6%
Damage vs. Combatants increased by 6% - 25% (based on tier)
Improved target acquisition, plus additional recoil tuning.

Shotguns
Decreased base damage at maximum range (falloff) by 20%
Shot Package Perk now has a slightly wider cone of fire
The Rangefinder and Shot Package perks are now mutually exclusive

Exotic Weapons
Vex Mythoclast
Base Damage decreased by 34%
Increased Precision Damage multiplier from 1.25 -> 1.50 (headshot bonus)
Pocket Infinity
Enhanced Battery Perk has now been replaced with the Speed Reload Perk

Perks
Metal Detector: Fixed a bug that prevents this perk from actually providing additional ammo
Lightweight: Fixed a bug that allowed additional agility to apply even when a weapon was stowed

Activities

Strikes
Engram rewards from strikes now appear in the post-game Activity Summary

Raid - Vault of Glass
Templar Encounter
Kill volume added to sniper platforms to prevent players from sitting on top of them
Relic is now removed and respawned if the holder leaves the playable area

Destinations
The Fallen have also retreated from their hold over the Rocket Yard to discuss a new takeover plan

So they nerfed people farming engrams in the rocket yard and the cheese approach to killing the templar in the raid

ARs don't preform as well in PvP as they did, but they still feel like the only viable primary class.

I haven't tried them yet (or didn't notice any difference if the hotfix went live last night), but I hope the AR's don't feel too nerfed for PvE. Still want to be using my Hard Light effectively for Atheon at the raids and hopefully get his void-elemental AR some time. On the plus side, I'm liking the Suros Regime more and more for its impact and ADS damage output though - especially for when we tried hard mode the other night :D.

Played some more PvE this arvo. Can totally tell that the ARs are weaker and not as accurate down range. (Kinda the point though :P)

The main thing I noticed with the AR nerf is the downgraded in PD (precision damage).  My Hex Caster and Monti are still better than a Bad Juju, I maxed that thing thinking it would get better, it didn't ;)

There's going to be another Hotfix next week. Basically:

- the Vex Mythoclast will be re-buffed for PvE because it has been nerfed too much, as Drags posted above

- there'll be baby bumpers  installed at the Atheon boss section of the raid so people can't simply push him off the the edge, and

- the portal teleporting when fighting Atheon will be randomised. So rather than teleporting the three players furthest away from him, everyone has a chance to be one of the three people sent to the other dimension to pick up the relic and kill the oracles.

That last change will make it a lot more difficult for new raiders on the team I think.

Agree about patching out being able to pus him off, but not the other part because you a still working a part of a team organising where to stand and what role you have....

Yeah I am not sold on this change, I think the old version worked well with everyone having defined roles, now its joining to be chaos on comms after the teleport trying to figure out who has the relic ;)

There are some really great fixes there!

We can finally buy the farmed upgrade materials with marks, they finally fixed Atheon teleporting (yay), lots of fixes and buffs for the exotics. So much yay for fixing the Hard Light again - the added recoil from the previous auto rifle patch meant it wasn't really good enough for hard raids anymore for me and nobody else seems to like it much :(. That was my favourite and go to gun when we started normal raids from the beginning...

Exotic shards for upgrades isn't too bad for me since I kept a lot of exotic weapon/armour dupes for this reason. I guess it's good that there's a way to buy them now too.
