Thanks to Leinad300 from WpR.

Looks like Bungie are going to make farming less effective, yah!  Then more people will actually be playing the game ;)

Thanks for sharing the link Jyks. Loot cave nerf, I wonder if they change the drop rate or the spawn cycle. Either way, I'm happy to earn loot by playing the game as it was intended, it's good news for the game in my opinion.

The other improvements they're working on sound promising. A lot of balancing work still to come from the looks of it.

For balancing they need a few more weeks of stats, but I think the changes to the assault rifle and shotgun are ok, even though I love my auto rifle, I know its BS in PvP :)   And good to see the Scout rifle get a buff for PvE.

No mention of fixing the weapon damage glitch, but I have only had that happen twice, and still can't work out how to reproduce it.

Manshootingman said they made it so you can't get ascendant shards from dismantling the Queen's Wrath Legendary gear as well . I haven't checked it out yet but I'm just glad I decided to dismantle most of it for the Raid, otherwise I would've kept a lot of them...

Exact details Live are below :)

Hot Fix - 09/25/2014
Sep 25 2014
Created by Destiny Dev Team
Summary
In Hotfix 5, we made a few changes to reduce the effectiveness of a humbling number of economy exploits. Check out these Destiny Dev Notes to read a summary of our impressions since launch.

Activities

Missions
Reduced drop rate of engrams following a hard wipe [fixed in 1.0.1.4]
*Clarification: This effect only lasts for a short period of time immediately following a hard wipe

Queen's Wrath Event
Material rewards for dismantling Queen's Wrath gear will no longer provide ascendant materials, but missions will continue to drop Legendary items

World

Destinations
The Hive of the holy “Treasure Cave” have realized the futility of their endless assault on Skywatch and have retired to lick their wounds and plan their next attack.
Respawn timers for monster caves in Skywatch have been normalized to 40 seconds (increased from 6)
Respawn timers for monster caves in Forgotten Shore have been normalized to 40 seconds (increased from 10)
Respawn timers for monster caves in Ember Caves have been normalized to 40 seconds (increased from 10)
Respawn timers for monster caves in the Shattered Coast have been normalized to 40 seconds (increased from 10)
Respawn timers for monster caves in the Barrens have been normalized to 40 seconds (increased from 20)

It is good that they are patching stuff, but i feel that upping the respawn time is definitely going to impact the game in a negative way. Think about how empty the game already feels... Then add those respawn timers and it will be a ghost town!

The loot cave changes were necessary, but I hope they understand why people did all that in the first place. Maybe they just want to make it harder for people to get good loot and slow progression into the game to increase its longevity

Wonder how long it will take to implement the other changes for weapons they mentioned

They are only upping the respawn time at farm locations, which is fine by me as thats 6 minor locations and wont affect patrols or mineral/material farming that much ;)   T

Given they have stats on what every player spends there time on, they are trying to encourage people into playing the game the way it was intended.   If more than 33% of the players are spending 25% or more time standing still shooting mindlessly into a cave, Devs wonder why they bothered making the game.

The queens missions/bounties are there attempt to up the guaranteed legendary drop rate to discourage farming, but those got abused to in terms of ascended material farming, so that blocked that as well in this patch.

Next to go will probably Material, Mote and Coin storage in the vaults, as thats getting abused a little now as well.  Lots of players are using secondary farming characters to get double or triple coins, materials etc that they stash for their primary character, hell who wouldnt want 27 Strange coins / week from 3 weekly strikes?  I know I was tempted.   But this just means characters level too quickly as Straussy pointed out and affects the games longevity.

Bungie can't/couldn't predict the way players actually play the game and the tricks and exploits they find, but they are trying hard to react to them in a balanced way.

I read somewhere they sold 4 million copies of Destiny in the first week or two, so on those grounds, does that mean there's a million-plus market for a 'blindfire into cave for random loot drop' simulator? ;).

The 1.0.2 patch will go live next week, and includes several changes to the Cryptarch and Engram experience.  These changes guarantee that Engrams will always decode into items at or above the quality of an engram.

That's great news! And it's important to note that:

Quote

Legendary Engram items that exist in your inventory will be demoted to Rare quality when the patch goes live, so decode them while you can. But let’s be honest -- even if you don’t, we all know they were blues already...

So there's no use keeping legendary engrams as they are for when the patch rolls over.

There was an update this morning when I quickly lept on to do the daily story quickly.   Bungie have been listening to the community, and it now appears that there are guaranteed engram rewards, the daily story had one.

I didn't have time to check out other mission types or PvP but looks like missions rewards are in.

Now we just need Boss engram drops on the Strikes ;)

Engrams have been added to the strikes payout too :)

I saved up a stack of blue engrams this week so I could level my cryptarch (after the patch) for all the extra mailed engrams... I didn't even get one legendary engram in the mail :(

Thats cool Eco.  Now they just need to add a reward for at least one PvP team member, doesn't have to be everyone but the number of times I have seen PvP games drop nothing for an entire team is too frequent.

Bungie are at least responding pretty quickly to stuff which is great to see, especially given the tiny sizes of the patches at the moment.

And not seemingly always having the legendary engrams/exotic weapons going to the worst-performing player on the team :P

They should pick a random stat and reward that player: most deaths, most precision kills, most nade kills, etc to at least given it some context :)
