Thanks Saintsy. I will give the fan test a go later.
The PS3 is laying down however is in a well ventilated spot. I will give it a try standing up though and see how that goes.

Do take warning though, some people are against the fan test as they believe it can bugger your ps3/has buggerd theirs. I've done it about 4 times and she's still kicking so yeah, do at your own risk haha.

Mine is only just hanging in there so I don't see how it can make it much worse.

Moved it to a very ventilated spot, completed the fan test and it is still turning itself off and slowly getting worse. Might have to get a new PS3?

lol yeah it does look like a beautiful place, i've just always heard you Aussies talk about sand in WA so i went with it :P

I don't mind the isolation, i'm kind of an isolated person and prefer some solitude - I plan to visit Perth sometime next year, saints can provide accommodation...

It was a 40 gig but now has a 500 in there. I know others that have taken to various fixes of the YLD but ultimately they are just a temporary thing. Four and a half years is not too bad I guess and I will see how it goes this week and look at getting another if it is still stuffing up. As Axe said at least they have come down in price. looks like the kids will have to go without food for a few weeks.

If you're feeling nice, give 'em the opportunity to hop outside and catch rabbits or birds, should keep them going ;).

Got a new PS3 today (and a fishing rod for the kids) and loading it all up now. I hope the kids like fish?

If not, their crash course in survival could have a side-session in markets, where they trade they fish the catch for what they'd like to eat?  Great to have you back on the PSN Dunny :D.
