I'd say we could most definitely have a BF3 night :).  We don't have a server at this stage, but you can rent 'em for the day or the week, so that's easy enough to sort.  I'll start a thread and we'll see what interest is there, and what time'd be a good one.

I need mental help, does that count?

Haha don't hire a server, just pile into one of the hundreds of unused ones.. Sure you wont have admin powers to kick, but not worth wasting more money on that crap

 Nah you don't Saintsy, it's the people who don't think they need mental help that are really in trouble ;).  Not a bad idea - will let the BF3 peeps speak, I'm pretty out of that loop.

COD ELITE, Does any one know hoe to fix the following issue?; I have a guy that wants to join my clan but cant leave the current clan that he is in. He has contacted his current clan leader to kick him, and they are having trouble with that as well(still getting error codes from current clan leader end).I have searched this issue and it seem to be quite prevalent! yet no real answers that seem to work.

Hey Bardygrub,

That's sounds really annoying... I had a look at the Call of Duty forums too and it does seem like a prevalent issue. The only hopeful response I found was this one after the person called up Activision Tech Support:

Quote

So, I called Activision and they told me to clear my cache and cookies. Also, they said to use a different browser. After I told them that I had already done so, they became a little stumped. The last  "solution" was to make a new account and link my PSN account to it and retry to accept the applications.

It didn't end out working out for them, but maybe see if that works for your friend? I think Elite's been pretty broken in some places for a while though, so there might not be any real fixes at all.

Did some digging and looks like this is critical flaw in the way they manage Clan IDs.   XBox and PS3 clans can have different names/tags but share the same underlying ID, they aint unique.   When the ID is passed through to the Elite backend system, it gets all confused if there is more than 1 record matching the Id :(   Poor data model design!

This will be very tough for them to fix, it will involve a data migration for either PS3 clan data or XBox clan data to ensure all Clan Ids are unique across all platforms.   Bloody idiots I swear, IT school-boy error this one!!

"The result of this issue is due to clans from PS3 and XBOX having the same clan ID. This needs to be fixed some how so both consoles do not share the same clan ID."

Thanks for the info, yeah the more I search this issue the more I think that it may not be an easy fix. The only thing that I have seen that supposedly has worked for some is to de link your account then and a new account with a different email then link all your existing stuff to your new account along with the new email??? Sounds like a bit of a head fu$?!

You could shove one of these next to it, Moisture Absorber.

Gave it a vaccum since i found it about 5 odd hours ago when i woke up so it had time to dry already. Turned it on and it worked so i think im safe-ish haha. Just giving it more time before trying to play a game.

Might head to bunnings tomorrow and give that absorber a look at.

Scary stuff Saintsy!  As far as I know, water is only a risk to electronics in terms of short-circuiting - so if you make sure it's well dried out before it's used again then you should be safe, all being well.  Good luck!

often electronics will be fine if you let them dry thoroughly before powering up or even inserting a battery etc.  the water shorts them out so no water, no short.

Yeah it's all good, dont think much water got into the machine thankfully. Fired it up that night and all was working well, a little too well i might add. Ps3's never run so smooth or quietly before haha!

My PS3  keeps shitting itself.

Started about 2 weeks ago when I couldn't get any co-op games started with Batty for more than a min or two.
I generally keep the back well vacumed and dust free. However pulled all the leads out and gave it the best clean out possible and it was fine for a week and a half however it has started happening again. If like last time it will just continue to get worse until I can't get into any game?

It is a PS3 fat and is about 4-4 1/2 years old. You will be playing and it will just turn itself off with the lights flashing, red and green (screen goes black) until you hit the power button to turn it off. When you turn it back on again the system spend 5-10 min recon and restoring files ect.

Looking it up online most people seem to think it is an over heating problem and to clean out the dust from the back vents but I don't agree. When it got bad before I would switch the PS3 on for the first time in 24 hours, start a game straight up and it would shit itself. There is no way it was over heating when only being on for 1-2 mins. I suspect it is the fan stuffing up and when the fan is due to kick in but doesn't it turns itself off. There are times with the fat that it sounds like it is going to take off the fan is working so hard and I have not noticed this happening recently or the fan working when it turns off.

Any ideas would be great. I have too many games to finish and continue to play to be without a PS3.

Is your ps3 standing up or laying down? I had a similar problem (though not as serious) as i had my ps3 laying down in a small enclosed area under my TV so there wasnt much circulation and whatnot. It's an original release ps3 aswell so id say it's just at that age where things start going wrong lol.

I moved mine to an open area where i could stand it up on its side so the bottom wont start heating up the surface its on which makes the ps3 heat up quicker, aswell as it being infront of a window so it has some fresh air. Had mass problems with it before but since i moved it, it's been quite good, perhaps give it a try?

also, try this: http://www.joystiq.c...ck-n-easy-test/
