Picked this up today, so far so good. I'm sure the difficulty will ramp up soon - anyone else keen to join the fight?

Had a good run on this tonight playing local co-op and a bit of online with randoms, damn it's a lot of fun. Lots to unlock and level up, I've only scratched the surface of the available weapons and stratagems.

Probably worth picking up whilst the PS+ discount is available, or waiting till it's on sale further down the road.

Might have to cave in and grab it while the PS+ discount is on, I am a sucker for anything co-op and it sounds a lot more expansive than the alien breed series.

Sounds like a few people are picking it up, that's great :)

I'll be playing some more tonight, happy to help some of you level up a bit so we can try to tackle some of the harder missions once everyone has unlocked / upgraded some decent equipment.

Wiped progression? Don't turn off your controller!

There is currently an issue with players experiencing wiped save data. We found an issue related to the controller dropping its connection to the game and then when you reconnect, the game spawns your avatar before it manages to load your old save. This results in what looks like lost progress, and often results in progress being lost if you let the game finish its save.

What we are doing about it: We have fixed this specific occurrence and are investigating other ways that save data might get reset as we are seeing reports of unrelated save reset issues. The fix for this specific issue will be in patch 1.03.

What you can do about it: Make sure your controller has a full charge when you start playing. Don't switch controllers if you battery is running low, just connect it to a cable, and wait until you are on the bridge and done with saving before switching to another controller.

If this issue should occur, restarting the game without saving will cause it to try and download the cloud save next time you start it up. This may solve the issue, but will not work if you have managed to save since you got reset.

There is also an annoying issue with some people having version 1.01 and some having 1.02, and those versions being incompatible.  Doesn't appear to be any way of updating 1.01 to 1.02, but I assume a full delete and re-download/install might solve the issue . . .

Heads up, the fight against the bugs has reached their planet. For most of this weekend (unless Super Earth is victorious early) you can snag double XP when waging war against the bugs. I'm pretty sure there's a trophy or two for this kind of event for those that are so inclined :P

Been playing this.

I quite like its basics, the way it plays (would love a Warhammer 40K game with the same gameplay).

Though two little things I wouldn't mind to change would be
Being able to use the map when prone, might make the whole being harder to detect by patrols useful if you could actually see them. I also find it a bit odd you cant shot when prone.
Being able to have the map always up when in vehicles it makes no sense to me that you would have to "pull" up the map like you do on foot in a vehicle.

Plenty of weapons and strategems to use though even still I do find myself generally sticking with what works for me. Quite like the Breaker mainly cause accuracy isn't too important :P. Stategems change depending on level, objectives and faction but always have a resupply one. Usually take a turret of some sort, useful to have another thing shooting and drawing attention. The Napalm is another one I like as its good at area control, unlimited and a shortest cooldown.

Bugs: I like the bugs the most, simple to fight and arent too annoying, becomes easier to avoid alarms on the hard levels when the elite scouts that appear like to jump you rather then just sound the alarm straight away. The Impalyer is the only slightly annoying bug mainly as if you don't know its there good chance its tentacles will catch you off guard. I can see why they are the most popular to fight.

Cyborgs: My opinion on the Cyborgs changes depending on one thing, is there IFV(Tanks) in the level? I loathe the IFV because its a normal spawn, so often in later levels they will just drop out of the sky(you can see its shadow fall across the ground) or just roll up to an objectives and to make things worse they can trigger alarms. Nothing worse to creep up on a red blip only to have the IFV drop down infront of you.

Illuminate: Annoying, definitely give me the most trouble. There is just so much to watch out for when fighting them, snipers, one-hit walls, stasis, control reverse, invisible ninjas. Really should unlock the shield to guard against a some of those issues. I like the Patriot against them as its shreds them but it shows off my somewhat poor accuracy and chews ammo.

Playing it is really up and down though can be really annoying sometimes and just saps any fun from it, really feels like it can be against you succeeding at times and other times its like its cool with it. I think the best example of this would be the capture objective sometimes it will go well with little to no resistance others it puts up a fight but then other times its just feels like it refusing to give you a chance and you are devoid of any luck and the game turns into running back and forth attempting to capture this point.

One thing I hate is the Retaliatory strikes I just avoid these missions and stick to the normal mission planets. I just find these strikes far too difficult and cant even finish difficulty planet 4s with them when normal level 4 missions arent an issue in the slightest.

Also have an allergy to snow planets that's also on my avoid list.

I've only played 1-2 players and I think that number works well because of how the camera works and also because of the main tactic of running away when things get over-whelming would get harder with more players.

Overall its generally fun the 12 difficulty levels really let you find a difficulty that you are comfortable with.
