Thought we could discuss any Mulitiplayer specifics in a different thread.

So I've started off playing as one of the Hunters with some friends. After a couple hours of playing last night we're now up to Week 1 Day 4 and we apparently have a healthy bunch of survivors for now. Seems like it'll take ages to go the whole 12 weeks, haha.

The Last of Us Online Player List:
  • Aromaci
  • atipuss   (ati)
  • ctrlaltdel-
  • esvsirbjmbe  (Batty)
  • GasClown
  • Hasan-I
  • Ivedunnit   (Dunny)
  • I_live_4_fun   (doesn't have the game atm)
  • Jykel
  • straussy240   (doesn't have the game atm)

Each factions journey goes for 12 weeks so if 1 match=1 day, 84 matches are needed to finish.

Need my hands on a ps3 ASAP!
Is the multiplayer worth getting my move on, or am i sweet with just playing the SP at a later date?

Good question Hasan, the MP shows a lot of promise, as they can easily add more maps and game modes.  Its not a run and gun game, though you still need to be a good shot, its more stealth, awareness and teamwork.

It looks like there will be quite a few people playing it, more than FUSE anyway :P

Yeah batty and I played last night and I think we experienced some lag. Its hard to say to be honest because 90% of the time the MP is fine. However, there was one guy last night who would not go down after 3 shots from the revolver which should down the enemy

Finding some better games now. Seems like it would be better with a communicating team.

O yeah by a country mile communication is key. The listen mode only works very briefly so you need to tell your team when you use it if you spot someone and try to stagger it so that you can always have one person spotting people. Flanking is very powerful in this game if you can pull it off

@Straussy/Aro - yep, key to being useful at level 0~1 is being on a good team of mic users, so you can brew moli's n smoke bombs and use them as the team needs.  So long as Batty, Dunny n Morgs knew where they were going and had a plan, I could follow and support em.   Couldnt do that in the one random game I had, I was just another useless level 0 with no clue and no idea of the map :)

@Dee - Yeah, the MP suffers from the same symptom other level/perks based systems, level 0 people are at a disadvantage, and have to rely on the default loadouts, to get some higher level items or a silenced pistol.

I found at level 0, I could still craft useful stuff and stick behind the better players with better perks and silenced weapons.  crafting nail bombs / smoke bombs can be really useful, the default Stealth loadout worked well for my play style.   I tried leading from the front with the Assault loadout, but got my ass handed to me.

It saddens me that this is the way things go these days - am looking forward to hopefully an indie dev (H-Hour!) doing a proper, competitive online game again, but it'll never hit the mass market, unlocks are just too alluring to enough people to ditch 'em for big-budget games.

Been having some good match 'pack hunting is so key. Had some good teams of randoms who moved together, which was nice.

Oh man being the last man standing is so intense! Nerve racking!

Haven't had as many lag issues lately which is nice.
