lol @ the prices. These really feel like poor mans remakes, not an answer to backwards compatibility at all. With the history SCEE have with releasing PS1 classics I see it being an absolute joke waiting for games to come this way too.

We're so lucky, we even get our very own fps problems, exclusive to SCEE!

You could always, I don't know, plug in your PS2.

It gets old having 3 playstations connected for me Aro. We need ports on our TV for various things more and more now too.  If you've actually been on a PS2 recently you'd realize it has trouble sometimes in presenting stuff on modern tvs too. List goes oooooooooooon.

I know backwards compatibility is no big thing to some but it is for me who plays older titles just as much if not more than new titles. The generation shift from 1 to 2 was nice and simple and you could retire your ps1 easily. Hasn't been the case since then. Bottom line it's well within the capabilities of the PS4 to offer ps1/2 emulation.

PS4 3.50 system software update – key features detailed
The closed beta goes live on 2nd March

Our beta program for PS4’s next major system software update, codenamed Musashi (or 3.50 if you prefer numbers), kicks off on 2nd March. If you signed up for the beta and were selected, keep an eye on your email for instructions on downloading.

Regardless of whether you’re in the beta, we wanted to detail some of the key features we’re adding to PS4 in this update. We’re making it easier to connect and play together with friends and the wider community, as well as introducing some much requested features.
  • Friend Online Notification – Want to know the moment your friends come online? With this update, you can, as we’ve added an option to be notified when members of your friends list sign in on the network. Notifications can be tailored to certain friends.
  • Appear Offline – Sometimes you want to play a game or watch a movie without being interrupted. Now it’s easier to go incognito as we’ve added the option to appear offline. You can designate if you would like to appear offline when you log-in or at any time from your Profile or the Quick Menu.
  • User Scheduled Event – Now it’s easier to organise a game session. We’ve added the ability to schedule a future gameplay session with your friends on the system. When your event starts, users who registered for the event will automatically be added to a party so you can start playing right away.
  • Remote Play (PC/Mac) – We’re bringing PS4 Remote Play to Windows PC and Mac. This feature won’t be available to test in the beta, but you can look forward to it soon.
  • Dailymotion, new service partner in Share feature – Dailymotion, an additional live streaming service, will become available for PS4 users to enhance their broadcast experience. Like other live streaming services available on PS4, users will enjoy the following features: Activity Feed, What’s New Broadcast Info Tile, Live Detail and Live from PlayStation.
If you’re in the beta, please download the software and let us know what you think. Stay tuned for more details on 3.50, including its release date.

From an organising games and stuff perspective, that user scheduled event sounds pretty slick B).  Cheers for the latest Super Spec :D.

I like it, the schedule event could be a winner but I don't know who has the beta to test it :P Appear offline is also something I missed from the PS3.

Commiserations Smokey, danged technology eh?  My Spotify account went spontaneously non-premium (despite being paid up) yesterday.  Wouldn't be any fun if everything just worked.....  Hope they patch it for you soon, remote play is tops B).

Oh aye, that schedule event thing sounds really good B).  Sorry I'm not up to testing it with ya, still a bit crook and antisocial at the moment (guess I should use the appear offline more, lol), but had I the energy to be organising stuff, that schedule event thing would be right up my alley.

PlayStation’s 3.50 system software update out tomorrow
Full details of tomorrow’s big PS4 update: PC Remote Play, online notifications, scheduled events and more

Our next major system software update for PS4, version 3.50 (codenamed MUSASHI), is out tomorrow! For those of you participating in the beta, we hope you are enjoying the new features and thank you for your ongoing feedback. While we outlined some of the features last month before our beta program started, we wanted to give a more detailed look at the update and share some new info. With 3.50 it is now easier to play together with friends through new ways to connect, improvements to existing features and the user journey.

Appear Offline
On your Profile tab, Quick Menu and login screen, we’ve added a new option called ‘Online Status.’ From here, you can choose to ‘Appear Offline.’ This could be useful if, for example, you want to fully concentrate on your game or watch a movie without interruption. You will remain ‘offline’ until you chose to change your setting. Don’t forget to turn it back on to fully experience your PS4.

Friend Online Notification
Now you can choose to get notified when your friends come online. To receive notifications, access your Friends profile, press Options, and select ‘Notify When Online.’ For quick management of your entire Friends list choose to ‘Select All’ or ‘Deselect All’ of your friends via Settings > Notifications.

User Scheduled Event
On the Events tab, we’re adding the ability to schedule gameplay sessions with your friends. Just select ‘Create Event,’ and you’ll be able to make an invitation for an upcoming gameplay session. Choose the day, time, game, and send it to individual friends or a Group. When your event starts, users who registered will automatically be added to a Party so you can start playing right away.
You can also share an event to a Community. Once shared, the event will be posted to the Community wall and members can register from there.

User Scheduled Events can also be created in the PS App.

Play Together
This feature allows all members of a Party to see what each person is playing so that you can easily join a friend’s game, or start a new game together.

Remote Play (PC and Mac)
With this update, we’re expanding PS4’s Remote Play capabilities to work with PC and Mac giving you more freedom and flexibility to play your PS4.
Remote Play on Mac / PC is compatible with the following system software:
  • Windows 8.1
  • Windows 10 or later
  • OS X 10.10
  • OS X 10.11
You’ll be able to select from the following resolution and frame rate options, depending on your Internet bandwidth.
  • Resolution options: 360p, 540p, 720p
  • Default resolution – 540p
  • Frame rate : Standard (30fps), High (60fps)
  • Default frame rate – Standard (30fps)
You can use one DUALSHOCK 4 as the controller for Remote Play, which needs to be connected via a USB cable.

To quickly check the status of the PlayStation Network Services, you can view this via Settings > Network.

Teen Account Creation
Teens (aged 13 – 17 years) can now create their own account and start playing in offline mode until parents approve the account and complete the parental control set up at their leisure.

PlayStation Plus Hub
Plus members can now enjoy easy access and management of their online storage. You can also see from your PS Plus Games which of your friends also play your monthly Plus games.

PS App
System software update 3.50 for the PlayStation App is also out tomorrow. This update offers PS App users some of the same great new features outlined above. Enjoy PS4 and PlayStation experience more easily and more conveniently, anytime, anywhere.
-Users can schedule gameplay sessions with your friends.
  • PS App main additional features
  • User Scheduled Event.
  • Dailymotion has been added to Live from PlayStation.

Cheers for the latest Spec, that update sounds impressive :).  The user-created events sound particularly good - were I as healthy as I was back in the old days, I'd be spamming everyone with a stack of 'em :P.
