This is annoying.

Quote

Evolution Studios is aware of the problem and have posted this on Driveclub's facebook page:

"DriveClub is available from today in America and the global servers are live for online play!

We are aware however that many players are receiving an error message indicating 'there is a fault with your internet connection' and we are investigating what appears to be a wider server issue behind this problem.

It's not affecting everybody and the game will keep trying to connect to the server automatically, so you don't need to do anything with the game (like re-install or restart over and over) to establish connectivity.

Please let us know your experience with the game so far if you're already playing - and please tag friends if they're having the same problem so that they know we are working on it.

We will update you as soon as we know more about this."

Couldn't resist giving this a quick race, and initial impressions were very good.  Well, other than having the same server problems as AG, so no clubs or online stuff.  Early vibe promising though :).

It has surprised me Axe, as long as I remember it is an arcade racer I think I'll enjoy but tI can't wait until me wheel is here, driving with a DS4 is like driving third person..... wrong on every level.

Looks like someone choked on launch servers - thanks for the update CAD, here's hoping they get it sorted soon.

Aye, I do like how it's arcade, but not NFS arcade, if you know what I mean.  You still have to do a bit of sensible braking and your car has weight through the corners, but it doesn't require sim-like levels of focus to drive (a big plus for me at the moment).

I do know what you mean and that is what is surprising me, it is a crossover between NFS and a real racing game, you can still feel the arcade so you don't worry about hitting your marks but to do well you do need to drive properly, especially in the time trials.

I'm really enjoying DC - I can't play it in long bursts, but it's great in quick sessions as well - I highly, highly recommend everyone with PS+ giving it a look, another mate who I met playing Burnout Paradise way back when (who was one of the three founding members of SPT, ahh, the good old days) who's right into racers (both sim and arcade) is also a huge fan - he's level 31 as of this lunchtime, but that may have changed since!

My new wheel is on board with the driver this morning so I'll be able to give this game a good crack this weekend. I have full on respect for those that can race competitively with a DS4, I can't do it.

I think Axe said in another thread that it was back up? Unsure though as I haven't been on the PS4 for a few days.

How is the wheel Aro? I need a serious opinion of it before I dish out and get one myself.

Been enjoying it so far. Easy to pick up and play. Not a steep learning curve at all. Graphically its pretty good. Some of the cars look absolutely spectacular.

Biggest gripes other than the servers being stuffed?

The AI. Every driver is based on my missus i'm sure of it. They are hell bent on following the racing line even if that means they are continually smashing into the back of you while under brakes. if your unlucky you'll get shunted through the corner and then receive a cornering penalty.

No tuning of the cars. Is a big downer. I know its more of an arcade racer but you cant change anything whatsoever.

No licensed tracks or advertising. Not a biggie I know but you get used to racing Nurburgring, SPA etc in games these days.

TBH I think it will die a quick death once Project cars gets released.

I've been playing a decent amount of single-player, and I think this is largely due to the AI being so aggressive - they shunt into each other as well, because they drive so close to each other, there's no room to adjust if someone breaks too early/late.  I've found that when I'm not moving through the pack quickly and driving more 'sim'-like, there are far less collisions.  There are still some silly collisions though - you're going down a straight and they go straight up your date.  Hopefully they work on it a bit.

DriveClub PS Plus Edition Officially Postponed Until Further Notice

Quote

Message from Shuhei Yoshida - President of World Wide Studios

Hi everyone,

I wanted to provide you with the latest update on DRIVECLUB. Unfortunately, the road to launch has been a little rocky, and we are truly sorry that so many of you have not been able to enjoy everything that we had hoped DRIVECLUB would deliver.

We have been listening to your feedback and realize that patience understandably is running out. Evo is working around the clock to close the gap, and we have deployed additional engineering resources to help resolve the remaining issues as soon as possible. Unfortunately, the time frames required to roll out the fully connected experience will be longer than anticipated and we do not have an exact time frame for when they will be resolved. We will continue to update you on progress and you can find the latest info on the DRIVECLUB Facebook page.

We are also very conscious that we have disappointed so many of you who were looking forward to playing the promised PS Plus Edition. Our first priority is to provide you with the best possible experience while playing DRIVECLUB. With the high volume of new players and additional server load the PS Plus Edition is anticipated to bring, we are currently not confident that we can guarantee the best online experience. Until we can ensure that everyone can enjoy the full social connected online experience, we will be postponing the release of the PS Plus Edition until further notice.

On behalf of WWS we are enormously grateful for your patience and we thank you for the continued support and encouragement. Again, we sincerely apologize for the delay. We are committed to giving you the best racing experience on PS4 – it’s taking a little longer than we hoped.

Thanks,
Shu

Nice find Spec, and a sensible move by Sony, but man has this launch gone badly.  I reckon it got to the point where they wouldn't have it out by Christmas, and wanted to clear the air and try again next year.  Still a great game, and last Friday (last time I played, the current bug I've got doesn't play well with racing games) it was much more stable, and I'm guessing is even more stable now - looking forward to being well enough to check properly :).

New Driveclub Update

Quote

Hi everyone,

The team at Evolution continues to work diligently to resolve all of the server issues. We know you have all been extremely patient and understandably frustrated during DRIVECLUB’s launch, and to show our appreciation for the support during this challenging time, we will be offering the premium DLC packs for November (25th November-SCEA/26th November-SCEE/27th November-SCEJ) free to those who purchased the full game.

These premium DLC packs – The Ignition Expansion Pack and Photo-Finish Tour Pack along with two livery packs – will give you a total of five new cars, 22 new tour events, 10 new trophies and 10 new livery items to play with online and offline.

The Season Pass will be extended to include four extra packs in July 2015 to ensure players who purchased the pass get everything that was promised. So on top of the free DLC in November, the Season Pass will still include 38 cars, 176 tour events and 80 unique liveries.

On Tuesday we will also be releasing our next game update which includes our first round of player requested feature updates.

In addition to Photo Mode, which will allow you to share your most thrilling moments with your friends, we will be adding:
  • Improved multiplayer collision physics to reduce frustrating spin-outs
  • Adjustments to soften the corner cutting penalty system
  • Options in the club menu to view everything your club has unlocked
  • A fix to allow all club owners to update their club badges
  • This update also includes the first new tracks, which we announced back in September as part of our plans to keep supporting and expanding the game as you play. These include the following free new tracks for online and offline play (also playable in reverse):
    • India – Yedepalli
    • Scotland – Wester Ross
    • Chile – Los Pelambres
Although currently we do not have an update regarding the timing for the launch of the PS Plus Edition, we are continually working on improving the server capacity to enable us to launch the PS Plus Edition as quickly as possible.

Once again, thank you for your support. We are truly sorry that the road to delivering the full DRIVECLUB racing experience on PS4 has been such a rocky one.

Not sure if this has been mentioned elsewhere, but it looks like that all new Tracks (as opposed to Cars/Tour events) for DriveClub will be free to download :).  Have to say, I'm liking this approach (a la KZ:SF's all maps are free), a great way of keeping communities together :D.

DRIVECLUB delayed until early 2014

By I_live_4_fun in Gaming News, on 18 October 2013 - 07:56 PM

SCE Worldwide Studios and the team at Evolution Studios have made the difficult decision to delay the release of DRIVECLUB and DRIVECLUB PlayStation Plus Edition until early 2014. As one of the biggest and most anticipated titles in the PlayStation 4 launch line-up this year, this would definitely come as a disappointment to many potential Day...
