This is my news of the week, and I haven't played any of the Witcher games yet!  But heard so much good, I plan to rip through the first two sometime soon - thanks Outlaw B).

Despite the fact that you'll have to spend a small mortgage on a PC to run on full ultra, I cannot wait.

Oh, I know, have heard from so many people whose opinion I rate highly that it's high on my list of 'must-plays'.  Just haven't got around to it - getting there though - picked up the original Witcher this week, and look forward to giving it a lash B).

Haven't finished Witcher 2 either for the same reason Clowny.
Even though i am probably not nearly as busy as you, it just seems like i have no time.
I miss being able to just play a game all day, those were simpler times.. haha.

On topic though, from what i have played of 2.. Witcher 3 will be amazing. :D

I've finished W2 three times. Each and every time I find out a little more or find some alternative path I didn't see the last time.

Free DLC forever is nothing to stick your nose at either.

Full German Version of summarised known details.

Quote

  • Date of publication, In 2014. An exact date is not known yet.
  • The save game import will be possible. But it will only affect the action in response to some minor characters like Triss Merrigold. Different characters will appear after previous decisions, or behave according against the sorcerer. The background story is not changed thereby.
  • There will be 36 states of the world, which are brought about by the action of the player. Furthermore, 3 different endings are planned that will make each 1 hour of play.
  • Horses and boats - Want to explore this world rieisge the sorcerer for the first time of transport such as horses and boats are available, which can also improve as the game progresses. The horses can eg. captured by the use of Axii mark in the wilderness, or the boats "borrowed" on the beach are.
  • Geralt now moves more agile through the landscape by being of climbing and jumping powerful first.
  • The three areas in The Witcher 3 will be available to everyone. There will be no more invisible borders.
  • In the course of his adventure, Geralt is visiting the capital Novigrad, the Skellige Islands, and the war-ravaged wasteland.
  • The game world is now to be much livelier. There should be in every land typical wild animals to hunt beyond the monsters to sell their fur, claws, etc. you.
  • At least 100 hours of play time - The playing time of the main missions is set at 50 hours, and the side missions as well.
  • Fast travel system - A quick travel system as it is known in Skyrim it is always possible to go back to previously visited locations.
  • The entire game world is to make the scope of the predecessor to the 30ig to 40igfache to erkundbarer surface, and that of a übetreffen Skyrim at least 30%.
  • No more loading sequences between the scenes
  • Although it was rather uncommon in bissherigen open-world titles, there will be the usual excellent and impressive cutscenes and dialogues set to music in The Witcher 3 again. Whether each type of side quest benefited is still unclear.
  • The now much busier world should not playable characters shine through an orderly and credible daily routine like in Gothic, and as things react differently to the theft of their property. Furthermore, it is not possible to attack his defenseless civilians because this is just not Geralt being equal.
  • From the beginning, a tutorial at the start -  As in its predecessor, many players have expressed about the supposedly hard-learn controls and the battle system, it will now give a tutorial similar to the beginning of subsequently filed in the Enhanced Edition of The Witcher 2 that will be involved in the plot.
  • The Witcher sense system - On the hunt for monsters, there will be a special mode can be activated, in which Geralt can recognize color-coded traces of Beasts at the scene and on the track. Thus, not only the nature of the beast is determined, but also a necessary preparation for the fight makes as each monster requires special tactics and equipment in order to be defeated much easier. This affects, among other things with the new slow-fighting mode, eg as one. can attack a monster targeted known vulnerabilities.
  • The slow-fighting mode - In the battles of The Witcher 3, there will be a - give slow motion mode that allows to target individual body parts - similar to common Fallout VATS. In conjunction with the individual anatomical characteristics of an opponent, this should make battles much total tactical and visually demanding.
  • The weatherman is talking with a word -  Was the day-night cycle, it always have been, but now the weather conditions will also affect the gameplay. So many places will reach perhaps only at night or during rain, or monsters appear only under certain environmental conditions, or puzzles require the right time to solve.
  • No quicktime events more, mini-games such as boxing or throwing knives affected.
  • Character development and maximum level 60 - The character development is now to be much more complex than in the predecessor. A level cap of sixty levels allowed from hundreds of options and specializations.
  • The magical characters are complex, full of effect and partially modified in its effect The Witcher characters should now be much more diverse than the previous removal. In addition, they should be able to influence the environment. For example, a Ignii - now conceived as a flame jet - set the environment on fire.
  • Collecting experience - Experience is gained now exclusively by completing missions. The mere slaughtering monsters or wild animals in the countryside fills your wallet.
  • The strength of the monster  - Monsters will not adapt to the level of the player, but have their own stage, which makes it as a model in the Gothic required to collect only enough strength to even have a chance.
  • Two different user interfaces for console and PC - There are plans for two different user interfaces for console and PC control, which should above all many PC gamers' lives easier.
  • A next-gen RPG - The Witcher 3 will be a role play of the next generation that is braked in appearance not by the technical capabilities of outdated consoles.
  • New monsters: Eisgigant / ice giant  -  A several meters high, humanoid creatures with a bluish skin color, which will be found mostly brandishing a large tree trunk to leg on the Skellige Islands
  • New competitions as minigames - In the longhouses of Skellige Islands axes thrown at the bet, or playing cards.
  • One will have to decide for any group, such as the Order of the Flaming Rose and the Scoiatael. A sorcerer is always independent.
  • Geralt as Pfeffersack  - The villages of the world will pay different prices for Geralt's loot, or equipment for sale, depending on the region cheaper or more expensive. It is worthwhile to compare offers. Supposedly, the trading prices may be affected by the fact how much the sorcerer it sold locally.
  • Smarter AI - The opponents to behave in The Witcher 3 is now more intelligent than the previous. To speak, for example, bandits from the fight by shouting, or surrendered to the sorcerer even if this appears to be clearly superior.

Graphics don't seem that different to Witcher 2. Surprising.

I know looking at those screens improvements aren't popping to me, they look good but they remind me of looking at W2 screens, but understandable given the scale they are trying with W3 plus W2 still looks great.

Word is that they haven't finished their rendering engine for W3, so that's how they look at this stage, but they've got a bit more work to do before it's finished.  Game's more than a year out, so that line sounds reasonable.  Also, keep in mind W3 is open-world - games generally take a bit of a hit visually when moving from a more structured to an open-world setup.

I haven't played the Witcher 1 and 2, but I think they're a bit more story-focussed, but still open world.  Was reading in Game Informer that there'll be consequences for not accepting quests, so if you don't help a town, they might get overrun by bandits, and things like that, which sounds really cool B).  Well, not for the town - but more the feeling of immediacy of quests :D.
