Don't really want to put spoilers in here.

Okay - so probably another way to explain it is when something is perhaps a little too perplexing or complex that the message isn't quite fully realised by common folk thus losing its impact.

    Yeah, I'd except that.

Well that's what I think of Infinites ending. Its genius is perhaps too genius. I think the ending lost some of its impact because of that. It could have been more simpler yet still genius, if you know what I mean - Portal 2 comes to mind in the simplicity and cleverness combined, likewise with Bioshock (original). It's quite a deep ending with openness to interpretation... don't get me wrong, I like that but I also like to completely understand an ending without overly thinking about it... e.g. *scratches head*... 'oh yeah, I get it now' - rather than 'fuck yes, how cleverly done was that'!!! Do you get where I'm coming from?

It's a game that definitely needs a second play through to justify its genius much like some movies do as well.

    Yeah, I can see that.

As far as Infinite goes I think all the story really needed was a bit more exposition and clarification how some of the story elements work.

Any game in a franchise that makes me immediately want to play the first game in the franchise (from several years previous) is a brilliant work.

As for further exposition, that effectively comes with the second and third play through Im sure. A good game is like an onion. Just pop that disc back in the tray, pick a higher difficulty, and watch the opening scenes again. It begins to fall in to place. Next playthrough you'll listen more closely to the voxophone recordings and... they will make more sense.

True but even after all that, it's still not quite clear. Plus they use such vague terms as well as metaphor.

For me there's just one outstanding question which I don't feel was explained or well enough.

I'll be definitely playing through this again, the problem is - I don't know when. Might be too long in between play throughs.

I dunno if it was overly clever... I liked that is was made in a way that it doesn't treat the player like a retard.  I suppose it comes down to what you want out of a story and if it's essential to "get it", or to just experience it.  It lays out all the evidence and allows the player to piece it together theselves, so I really enjoyed it.  Aro bro I'd love to chat to you about these supposed plot holes.  I've read up on it a bit and I've yet to find something in the game that is a plot hole or doesn't fit within the universe they created.

There was a couple of moments where (I'm trying to make this spoiler free as possible) I just sat there and it really made me think about the way I play games.  It transcended the screen and actually made me think.  Not many games do that for me lol!

Maybe we should make a thread where spoilers are accepted...

Haha - that's insane!  Yet to play Minecraft, but from what I know someone put a lot of time into that!
