Thought I'd get a discussion going about this game.

Link to a Joystick video interview with Levine about controversial topics in games

I agree with his sentiments and wish more developers thought like he did.

Aye, I loved the way that in both the original Bioshock and Bioshock 2 it had some very interesting themes underneath the action, but the action and the story always came first, it wasn't like they were trying to shove the themes down your throat.  The story itself was also very well done.  I'd bet good money that even if the gameplay was horrible (which I'm sure it won't be), Bioshock Infinite would be worth playing for the story and 'vibe' alone B).

Always enjoyed listening to Ken Levine, likewise with Amy Hennig. Both very interesting, creative and intelligent people. BTW, my job title is the same as his. haha.

My interest has suddenly sparked in this, probably the whole steam-punk/city on the clouds type thing.

now i feel like i need to play the first two (i am aware infinite and the others probably aren't even in the same universe)

They're deffo not the same setting (I've no idea about the same 'universe', the original two are set around the 60s/70s, give or take, and I think Infinite is set around the turn of the 20th century or maybe even a bit before), but I highly recommend both - first is better than second, but both are excellent games B).  About 15 hours or so a pop (give or take five hours - it's been a while so can't remember well), so they won't take forever.  I'd put the first as one of the best games this gen, well worth a look :).

There's a bunch, but I will tell you a true story:
Todd Howard once tweaked my nipple, and I liked it.

An interview with one of the Bioshock Infinite writers, Drew Holmes:

He writes a bit more (funny stuff) in the PlayStation Blog about how he came about joining the writing team, hehe.

Don't know that I'll play this game but I love watching the trailers and vids for it - I kept a 14-minute one back from early last year on my PS3 for ages.

Thought I'd get this topic back in motion as the game has gone gold and is releasing 26th March 2013.
Is anybody else as excited as I am to experience the brilliance of Ken Levine and Irrational's next offering?
It is (along with Last of Us) my most anticipated game.

Never got into the Bioshock series, don't know why.
I played the demo of 1 but for some reason it just didn't draw me in.

lol - Bioshock is far too deep to show in a demo. You need to experience the whole game. That's the reason why you never got into it. It's the highest rated FPS 'ever' for good reason. :)

Or as one reviewer wrote:

"Seriously - if you don't find something to love about BioShock, we'd recommend a trip to the nearest doctor to check if your heart's still beating".

I know demo's can be poor representations of the final game, but I was never interested in it in the first place and only tried the demo because of how high it was rated. The demo didn't do anything for me so I wasn't going to plonk down money on the full game.

Any ways probably shouldn't have posted to begin with in a thread of a game I am not interested in, hope it reaches your expectations :) .

That's okay mate - I don't think there is a rule that says you can't express your disinterest in something. Each to their own I say. But you're the one missing out on one of the best games 'ever' created. Your loss, not mine. :)

Different strokes for different folks - if I was only into train simulators, I suspect Bioshock Infinite wouldn't interest me in the least :P.  I'm not though, quite looking forward to the next Bioshock - really enjoyed the 1st and enjoyed the 2nd more than most seemed to.  Doubt I'll get it at launch, though - gotta watch the coin, and these kinds of games are pretty timeless.

Yeah, I doubt I'll get it day one as well Axe (as much as I'd love to) - don't have the time to play anything. Train Simulators FTW though. haha :P Still gotta buy Ni No Kuni! Can't believe I haven't got that yet either.
