This band has always made me laugh - they remind me of a looney asylum where everyone is crazy from listening to them too much. This new album pretty much tops it though... of course the music taken from one of my favourite movies (the original Wonka).

Been getting back into Carcass (on the headphones as nobody would put up with it except me). I kinda didn't like the new album but now that I've listened to it quite a few times, all I can say is fuck I missed them. It'd been 20 years (since the last album) and probably a good 15 of those years I didn't even listen to this kind of music but Carcass are just one of these special bands that I do... simply because they are masters of their craft and also the godfathers of that style. Anyway, got one song to post up, it's good music for in the early hours of the morning. lol.

Hey, it makes good background music for a romantic dinner with the wife/gf. lol

In all seriousness, I'm really interested in the guitar work. The lick tradeoffs, solos and riff harmonising are reminiscent of Iron Maiden, taking melodic blues roots and twisting it with that Carcass brutality or as they call it "Rot 'N' Roll". Like it or not, they're a classic band (for that genre of music). Nobody else (as far as I know) does it as good as them in that style. Here's another song back from '93.



Mind you - I remember when Heartwork released and it was such a big change from their former albums, it was a bit like Metallica becoming a sellout... fucking hated it. But it eventually grew on me, just like the Black album did... everything after the Black album I don't like though.

Here's what they used to sound like (more grind core)... before that they were even more raw but I'll leave that because it's quite disturbing lol. Their album covers (from those days) were banned in most countries.

Deffo wasn't knocking it, sorry if I came across that way .  I'm a bit more traditional rock'n'roll and blues m'self, but there's definitely a lot of skill in their guitar work, and their vocabulary .

Never thought you were knocking them and never expected you to like them - don't ever expect anyone to like or agree with anything I post up here. I like more traditional rock/blues myself as well... but I seem to like a lot of genres which I phase in and out of... the only one I stay well clear of is top 40 shit.

Forgot to put this up ages ago... new album out in June (I think)... new lineup. Great to see them back, one of my favourite bands.
