Seeing as how I used to play Guitar and I love music.
What type of genre's do people listen to?
I love pretty much everything, have seen bands from LP to metallica to classical to trance to big festivals etc.

Rock and Trance/EDM/Chillstep are probably my two most listened to categories aswell as 80's and the like.

Nice one 'Frit :).  Big fan of pub rock m'self, and enjoy blues, folk and 'light' metal and other forms of rock.  Midnight Oil, AC/DC, Cold Chisel, Hunters and Collectors and Things of Stone and Wood all faves, as are a few less-well-known pub bands like Gentle Persuasion.  Living End go nicely as well.  So, I'm pretty much a cliche from Melbourne in the 80s .

I prefer to go to "pub rock" events and the like with mates now. Love the atmosphere and the music from that era. Makes for a top night out

I live and breath metal but I do appreciate and listen to all types of music. Some favourite bands are Alice in Chains, Queen, Perfect Circle / Tool, Megadeth (Rust in Peace album), Foo Fighters, Pre-Black albums Metallica, Maiden, Crüe, Pantera, Soilwork. Just to name a few. Played guitar since I was 15, also played bass in several bands and played keyboard/piano since I was 8.

Played in the following band - released a couple of EP's, singles and an album. Some dude posted it up on YT finally but it was recorded around 2004.

Am a retired muso now, focussing on work.

Big Metallica fan, also love Ozzy Osbourne, Green Day, and really getting into Five Finger Death Punch lately (stupid name, great band). And of course love the songs I've recorded with my own bands.

My new best mate. Metallica are my fav band of all time, obviously, i wouldnt get a metallica tat if they werent. Mostly into rock and metal, though I like blues music as well, Stevie Ray Vaughn etc. Hate pretty much all modern day music, pathetic, no talent grubs.

Have you listened to the Skyrim album Outlaw? It's bloody brilliant. I listen to it while I'm working as it's not distracting. Thoroughly recommend. :)

I'll listen to everything ranging from anime and game soundtracks to kamelot and iwrestledabearonce.

The best soundtracks i could recommend would be the metal gear soundtrack  and anything made by Yoko Kanno.
Oh and a band called Mogwai they have a lot of stuff in spec-ops the line thats really good.

nice thread :)

I love all things hard rock n heavy metal, basically I steer clear of black metal and doom, but happy listen to old maiden through to aussie grindcore bands like Wretch.

As a muso, I luv playing the old school metal, fans are so fanatical and know every note.   We'll be bringing the Maiden and Priest shows to Sydney in early Feb, and the Deep Purple show in March.

I have listened to the "Far Horizon" one but not the rest of the album. Will have a listen thanks :) I mainly listen to soundtracks when i'm working away as well.

Assassins Creed has some good music too. One of my favorite is AC2 City of Rome

The Greatest Video Game Music 1 & 2 is a good collection too

Yeah, the majority of the album is very ambient and enchanting, along similar lines to Far Horizon rather than the title track Dragonborn (which I got sick of pretty quickly). But brilliant orchestral and vocal arrangements - some of the best I've heard anywhere - let alone just video games.

kamelot and iwrestledabearonce.

Now we are talking my genre, prog metal.  Kamelot, Halloween, Gamma Ray, Savatage, Crimson Glory, Fates Warning, early Queensryche, Enchant, King Crimson, Eldritch, Spocks Beard, Conception, Blind Guardian, Vanden Plas, Spiral Architect, I could go on :)  Ayreon, Dream Theater, Threshold, Symphony X, Rhapsody, Stratovarious, Superior, Shadow Gallery, Lemur Voice, The Gathering, Royal Hunt, Tiles.    I really could go on B)

And if you like iwrestledabearonce, suss out The Agonist dude.  Metal core with a great female singer.

Thanks Jykel had a good time, managed to get just behind the first row of people. There was a fair bit of standing around but I don't really get to go to concerts/gigs(only 3) that much, so winning tickets and getting to be 5 metres away was pretty awesome. Pretty good location just at the back of the Opera House as well thankfully the rain managed to hold off. I'm not going to the actual concerts but my sister is going to both the Sydney ones.
