Well it all depends on how you rate 4/5/6 lol. I'll just say 4th as its leagues better than the prequels.

It was bloody awesome! Teared up a few times I'll admit... the new cast is great, particularly Rey - she fits in so well. So does Kylo Ren. Can't forget BB8 as well - dude is a dude. Wasn't surprised with what happened (you know) - saw it coming from a mile away. The end was fucking tops. Stinging for the next one!

I learnt that it was filmed on physical film, JJ Abrams being among a group of directors that have actively put themselves down to preserve film and partnered with Kodak.

That's pretty big, considering George Lucas is a big reason why the industry moved away from physical film in the first place. Ironic that it will be wound back by Star Wars itself. That makes me think I just have to watch it and draw a line under all the stupid that has happened lol.

I think the only real negative is that it relies heavily on A New Hope and it's a very 'safe' movie. But with that said, it sets things up and it leaves a lot of questions unanswered so hopefully now the story can branch off and become its own.

Pretty much. Few mates that have seen it and the internet in general have just said its A New Hope, just different lol.
Nothing wrong with that after all 4 and 6 were essentially that lol.

Just need to find that perfect balance of keeping it the way it is and doing it's own thing which i don't think JJ will have a problem doing (like he's done with star trek).

Waiting 2 years for the next one will feel longer than however long we waited for this one haha.

Particularly because of the cliff hanger which hasn't been done in a Star Wars before. Best parts - BB8 lighter thumbs up... whole theatre lost their shit. And moment when the lightsaber whizzes past Kylo and to Rey. The only question I have is, how the fuck did she become so powerful so quick, it took Luke 3 fucking films to get that far and he's the 'chosen one'. lol

The way i sold it to myself is that she's probably more naturally gifted using the force than Kylo which is why she easily overpowered him. No secret force users have various abilities and strengths without training, like Leia being able to sense luke etc etc.
That and i cant recall if they mentioned who her parents were? If Luke and a force babe got together then that could also be an explanation lol. Monies on her being lukes not leia's.

And yeah, that BB8 moment was tops lol

Or all the conflict going on inside Kylo's head, he's definitely not very stable or focused. I guess Luke got his lightsaber the same way in Empire before he got proper training from Yoda but still, she seemed pretty powerful already. No idea who her parents were/are, they didn't really say, except she was obviously abandoned there (much like Luke). With that said, I dunno if I want her to be related, having Kylo related is enough, although Star Wars ultimately being a story about the Skywalkers, then it's definitely on the cards.

Possibly, dudes got some real issues going on that's for sure lol. Yeah I'd like her not to be a skywalker, but trying to sell some random chick being more powerful than someone with skywalker blood in him would be tough.
