I shouldn't have bought/played Assetto Corsa - there's no going back to anything after driving in that.

This game is driving me insane - thinking of trading it in... too many settings you have to adjust. Whilst I can see what they are trying to achieve, the FFB should be setup for every car to make it feel like you are driving that car, not having to adjust each car manually yourself. I personally can't seem to find the right balance, on brief occasions it feels superb (or realistic) but then dives head first into a lake of steaming shit.

I don't want to sit there hours on end setting up every car to my liking. Sure, tweaks here and there are necessary (or fair enough) but it's almost like starting from scratch. A lot of cars (not all) feel like a nugget when you first drive it (without changing the settings).

that's the big draw of sim games though gc, if you didn't have these settings it'd just be an arcade game.  in gt5 we used to repeatedly run the same car on the same track for a week on end to get the perfect setup before a ladder/tournament race.  you'd be amazed at how big a difference the settings will make to your pace over the duration of a race, that's where the guys at the top of the world wide leaderboards will be separated from those at the bottom as they're just redoing it over & over until they get near perfection.

It's not the actual 'car' settings like in GT5, it's the FFB settings... really technical stuff. Most guides I've watched, the people don't even know what each thing does... it's more developer type stuff.

I think you need to find a baseline that works with most then it is just fine tuning, I bought it on PC while I am still waiting for my disc and got the karts handling really nice pretty quickly, they had no feel at the start. The key is to save the setup to all tracks so you only need minor tweaks.

Yeah - some cars are fine from the get-go and don't take much tweaking but some are downright woeful and feel like shite. They're the ones I'm having trouble with.

@ Graph - it's things like...

Master Scale, Fx Scale, Fy Scale, Fz Scale, Mz Scale, Fx Smoothing - but that's only the start (there's heaps more). You can change those wheel/FFB settings for every car. Then you have your global FFB settings as well which is your basis.

in a whole it'd probably be a lot/pain to deal with, but say if you got heavily into a specific racing discipline, you'd probably love to have that level of control/customisation over your wheel for it.

can you save multiple setups per car ?  one thing that annoyed me with GT5 was you couldn't name each setup & i think you were limited to only a couple.

No idea if you can save multiple settings - I dare say so. I don't mind that they have this deep customisation for FFB, Assetto Corsa has it as well but out-of-the-box all cars feel unreal when you drive them, then you can tweak them to your hearts content. Project Cars, some cars just feel very ordinary (no feel) out-of-the-box - that's what is pissing me off.

my mate at work had the same issue, someone has posted an indepth guide on g25/27 settings that he reckons worked a treat, perhaps there's one out there for your wheel too.

The ones that I have tried haven't really done it too much justice. At the moment, I think I'll just stick with the cars that don't feel too bad. I'm currently doing the Formula Rookie and the cars are fine in that. To me, when FFB is done well, you can feel the car and when it hits that 'breaking point' - that way you know how hard you can push the car before you lose control of it... the rest is up to track knowledge and practice. As I've said a million times now - some cars you can't feel that and it makes it difficult or unnatural to drive them... you need that FFB to give you feedback on what the car is doing or how it's behaving. I can't push a car to its limits without that feedback - otherwise it's just guess work.

You are absolutely correct there, I haven't looked at the SoP settings yet but it looks like that is the settings that are most important, I don't really want to get into it on PC as I am not really set up for it.

Have you tried online yet?

Nah mate - haven't touched it. Once I get more comfortable with the setting up of things, I'll delve into it. I think I dove into the depths of it too quickly, I really enjoyed driving in the Formula Rookie cars (whatever they are) so I'll keep going with that for now. Whenever you get your copy and you're up for it - let me know. I should be on most nights. Unsure if you're on my friends list - will check it tonight and throw one your way if you're not.
