We're holding a 'Don't Starve' leaderboard challenge.  It will be open for a month (until Midnight AEDST on Saturday, 15 Feb), and the challenge is to last as long as you can, and then post proof up here .  I'll do a prettier leaderboard up in the next few days, but for the moment, it'll be a list in the OP.

The rules are pretty straightforward.  Make sure you're playing Don't Starve with default settings, and then survive for as long as possible!

Post a screenshot of you on your last day (if you're worried that you'll forget to hit the share button when you're about to die, just hit it at dawn of the new day once you've got up to a stage where you think you should be saving screenshots ), as well as the story of your death, in this thread.

Entries can be from PS4 or PC (let us know which though).

Fame and glory will go to the person who can survive the longest, as well as the person with the most entertaining story of their demise .

Good luck all, may your bellies be as full for as long as possible .  Don't pet the Treeguards.

Sorry it's not a screenshot of me on my last day, but I did grab one of the death screen.

Playing on PS4. Everything was going great, survived through a couple tough winters with ample supplies. The evening of day 70, a pack of hounds started to attack. I usually just run downwards from my campsite to a large herd of Beefalos who always take care of the hounds for me. However, this time I had forgotten that I had rotated the camera whilst building some walls and I didn't find my friendly Beefalo herd. It was starting to get dark, so I checked my map and realised my mistake. I then tried to correct my path but ended up turning straight into the second pack of hounds. They mauled me to death instantly

You never know Aro, with a the right manure and rabbit hole configuration, you could get there .  Nice work on Day 15 Ati .  When bringing a photo over from facebook, right click on the photo, then selection 'copy image location', then press the image button in the reply to this topic toolbar, and copy the location in there, and everyone will be able to see it.  If you just paste the link, then it'll only be people on your friends list, and everyone else would miss out on seeing your funky hat .

I am up to day 10 so far, having trouble finding food and moving on from the area i am set up at at the moment. Set up on one of the alters with the pig heads. By the way, worm holes... what do they do?

My best run (by some margin, my best before this had been 13 days) came to an end.  It was a bit silly, really - I'd got my bee box up and running (without making a bee hat, something I'll do first before getting amongst the bees in my next game!) so set off to find some papyrus, and see what we could do with that.  Found a great big field of it, but there were a lot of tentacles there.  I thought I might be able to dash in and grab some before getting hit.  The accuracy of that call is well covered in the second screenshot below!

Bloody great game, Don't Starve - goes incredibly well .

Eventually got smashed by a large pack of hounds at day 70 (on PC).  I hadn't recovered from an epic battle against a spider queen where I managed to almost die from my own gunpowder antics.   My tooth trap setup got a few hounds and slowed em down, but I lost my armour and helmet in the spider battle so death came pretty quick.   Really wish I had chester in this one so I could carry backup gear

I was hoping it would be a longer run, the battle with the spider queen and her minions was epic, so I was stoked afterwoods and spent time looking at all the new things I could craft when the 70 day dog packs hit and I hadn't crafted new armour, spear, helm etc.  So word of advice, always keep those up to date, log armour and a footy helm FTW!

I just roll with a log armour and spear, but I don't leave home without spares if either are below 40 per cent!

doesn't look like you had your log armour on when you investigated that rock lobster

I'm over 300 days in now, the caves are massive. Spend most of my summer building up supplies to head into the caves during winter. No need to stay warm down there, it's great. Just need to eat a lot of pumpkin cookies to keep the sanity up!

Be sure to post a tally of where you are before the 15th .  I think I've done my dash with Don't Starve now - up to day 117, but struggling a bit with motivation to keep going - just got trapped in a cave by Chester and basically had to insanity myself to death, which was a bit motivation sapping.  Had a meat effigy, so still 'alive', but think I'll leave it at that for the moment.  How's your run going Jyks?

Wow, uncool way to end ye journey Axe.

I am havent really got back into it much since my long run ended.  I started a new but I think I am only in the mid-20s in terms of days.

Yeah, I'd just found a new sinkhole and was enjoying exploring, and had all my best gear on, so when I got locked in by chester I was a little disappointed.  Suspect Chester's nigh on indestructible, as I watched a spider attack him for more than a few minutes in the hope he'd take him out and clear a path.  I may go back to the game at some point, but it kinda took away my enthusiasm for carrying on (particularly if I got trapped in the same spot trying to get my gear back).


You were over 100 days on PS4 weren't ya Jyks (apologies if I've confused PS4 and PC)?  Deffo post that up, you should have the number of days in the in-game leaderboard even if you didn't get a screen at the end.

That's a tragic way to go out Axe. Chester has quick life regen, so he needs a decent sized mob to attack and take him down quickly. I'm not sure why you couldn't attack him though - that's a weird glitch. Maybe don't take chester down into the caves with you, just make a mini base with some chests underground to store what you need.
