Am a bit tired to write up something original, so have a Eurogamer spiel instead ;).  This game looks great - and put together by four people!

Quote

Joe Danger developer Hello Games has revealed its upcoming first-person sci-fi action adventure No Man's Sky.

Based on the trailer revealed at VGX, you switch between walking on land, swimming, and most excitingly, flying - both in the planet's atmosphere and in outer space via various types of ships. You can even blow holes in asteroids then zoom through them, like a boss. And don't forget the giant sandworms, because they're there too.

Made by only four people, No Man's Sky looks insanely ambitious. The planets will have their own ecology and ecosystem, according to Hello Games' Sean Murray, who noted "We're all playing in the same universe." So the stars you see in the sky are actually other planets that other players are playing on. Madness!

Check out the mammoth undertaking in No Man's Sky debut trailer below.

Wow! That looks awesome! Seems a bit ambitious for four people but definitely looks promising.

This game's looking better and better :).  If they get some decent variety in the worlds, I reckon I could be very happy just muddling along checking out what's out there in their universe.  Cheers for the vid Spec B).

Starting to get insanely excited for this. Apparently the solar systems are functional to the point of planets rotating around the sun is what gives you a day/night cycle so you can even land on the dark side of a planet. Also dinosaurs. Makes me feel like a big and little kid all at once.

Reminds me of spore but how a lot of the original science in the concept was abandoned to make it simpler. They had cute vs science development teams and cute won out.

An update on No Man’s Sky
Hello Games’ PS4 sci-fi adventure will now launch on 10th August in Europe, 12th August in the UK

Hello, Sean Murray from Hello Games here, working extremely hard on our game, No Man’s Sky.
The game really has come together, and it’s such an incredible relief. As we sit and play it now, and as I watch playtesters every day, I can finally let myself get excited. We’re actually doing this.

However, as we approached our final deadlines, we realised that some key moments needed extra polish to bring them up to our standards. I have had to make the tough choice to delay the game for a few weeks to allow us to deliver something special.

After a short delay, No Man’s Sky will launch in Europe on 10th August in Europe, 12th August in the UK.
We understand that this news is disappointing. Making this game is the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life, but we are so close now, and we’re prepared to make the tough choices to get it right.

The universe of No Man’s Sky is incredibly vast. More than you can imagine. This is a type of game that hasn’t been attempted before, by a smaller team than anyone would expect, under an intense amount of expectation.

And despite all of that, development is genuinely going well. This is the hardest-working, most talented team I’ve ever worked with, and I’m so proud of what we’re doing. For all our sakes though, we get one shot to make this game and we can’t mess it up.

To the loyal community who’s stuck by our side since the unveiling of No Man’s Sky years ago, we hope you’ll accept our sincere apology and I am humbly asking that you’ll still look forward to exploring our universe despite the slight delay.

Thank you so much,

Sean

Really disappointed by this but better for it to release in a good state. I guess it was always optimistic sticking to the original release when they're entire office got flooded.
