for my PS4, it will be COD Ghost and BF4 only. others can wait. perhaps NFS: The Rival.

NFS: Rivals is reviewing very well (and technically seems to be pretty much the same deal on both consoles, so no reason to favour the PS4 for framerate/resolution), so could be an option.

Oh aye, that's the most important thing - no-one should be a new gaming device until there's something on it that they want to play enough to get the console for it :D.  I'm deffo not suggesting you or anyone else should get a PS4 or XB1 now just because of my historical comparisons.  So in this case, we're saying weak relative to your tastes then :P.  (I still think "weak" needs a context or as a word it doesn't mean much - my personal level of physical strength is very strong relative to my mate's six-year old kid, but I'm weak as all get out compared with a rugby league player).

That said, I may be thinking about this a bit too much, lol.  My Dad's into etymology and semantics, I may have inherited some of that....

Seems like you may need to go back to school for some extra learning Axe. Weak is not a comparative term unless it's used in comparative context like you have been (not me) with previous launches etc. Google weak and learn before wasting any more of my time. haha. :P

As I said before - absolutely, weaker and weakest are comparative.

As I said before - absolutely, weaker and weakest are comparative.

Hey, I was willing to drop this :P.  Agreed it can be used in both senses, _but_ even if it is used in the second sense (ie, an absolute weak), it's still implicitly being related back to a standard, and if the standard isn't defined, then the term has no meaning.  For example (definitions taken from the Concise Oxford):

Bunch of irrelevant ones:
- lacking physical strength and energy
- liable to break away or give under pressure
- having a downward tendency
- (of a solution) heavily diluted
- (of a syllable) unstressed
- denoting a class of verbs in Germanic languages that form the past tense and past participle by addition of a suffix

Possible relevant uses:
- not convincing or forceful - requires context - ie, this isn't an absolute statement, but can only be expressed relative to something else, even if that relative expression is implicit.
- lacking power, influence or ability - your best chance here, but it still has to be referred to something relative.  Lacking power for what?  The PS4 launch line-up would kick arse if it came out on the SNES.  Without a reference point, the use of the term here can have no meaning.  Again, the relative reference can be (and generally is) implicit (lacking power, influence or ability, relative to what you enjoy in a game), but it's necessary for the term to have any meaning.
- lacking intensity - no way this could apply, War Thunder has more intensity than you can poke a stick at :P.  But even if it did, lacking intensity, relative to what standard?  There is no absolute measure of intensity.

Axe - you bore me and everyone else. It's still a weak launch and so is this discussion. ;)

It's you that's always trying to compare weak to something, not me.

Agree the discussion is a little on the dull side ;).  The last thing I'll say is that you _are_ comparing weak to something, you're just not explicitly stating what it is, leaving the meaning of your comment ambiguous.  But I promise I will shut up now, at least on this :D.

Okay bugger it, here's my last stab at this :P I completely understand where you are coming from but let's put your comparison to test. You're comparing it to previous launches... and yes, as I've agreed with you before, it's a 'stronger' launch than most, it's certainly not the 'weakest' launch, it's not quite weaker than some but does that mean that this launch still can't be called a weak launch? After all - all launches I can remember have been pretty weak. What the hell do we call it, semi-strong or a sort of strong launch? You seem to have all the answers... lol :P Or fuck it - just call it an underwhelming or disappointing launch and be done with it. ;)

But I've promised not to say any more!  I can answer that if you'd like, but only if interested - intention of this is not to bore :D.  Well, too much :P.

Oh hey - it's boring, no doubt about it... probably more to others than it is to you and me but I'm sure the world won't come to a stand still if this goes on for another few rounds. lol I think we should probably move our shit to another thread though... haha.

Would be a silly move by Rockstar if they didn't release it on next-gen, they might be keeping quiet now so they can make all the money they can from current gen, then maybe release a GOTY edition on PS4/XBONE?

Honestly I'm pretty happy with the launch. Has some big games that I'll be playing a lot of online, KZ and BF4.

A bit of AC4 when I want to get some sick stabs going on.

Bit of Resogun when I want to look at pretty particle effects.

Knack for when the GF wants a go.

And then I'll be grabbing my DS3 again around March for the PS3's last hoorah. I'm excited!

And... WAR THUNDER!
