Finished this on hard today, save file says just under 10hours.
In general it was good, it still provides those moments of epicness and scale but I feel the story was filling in something that just didnt need feeling in.
It did flow well though playing through the game I never felt it lingered in one spot too long, it kept moving, I liked the jumping between timelines as well.
It wasn't too bad playing through difficulty wise most of the time it only took 1 or 2 retires to get through a battle, apart from one annoying section in the final battle the only parts that I had real trouble with were ones with many Saytar. Every-time you got a new blade element was dreadful for me, so many Saytar, I had to resort to just spamming grab in the air to get through them.
The patch made the Trial a one and done, I don't think I would've gotten through it without the hp in-between first go though that first floor would be key to success. The first floor was the tough one then first phase of the second floor last 3 phases were easy.
I did find that you couldn't be as aggressive as past ones, still could dominate battles if I got on the front foot(Always fun launching and juggling enemies) but once you got put on the backfoot I had to generally play defensively for that battle.
Autosave vs save points: if it was more clear when it saved and had an optional manual save slot option I wouldn't have any issues with the change.
General gameplay: camera was for the most part good apart from a handful of times were it was the worst its been in the series, the camera never really bothered me up until those few parts in Ascension.
I'm glad the series has slowly dropped the pointless button mashing to open chests and putting large amounts of doors everywhere, really saves your thumb not having to mash O or R1.
Combat: I stuck with Ares fire activated on my blades 90% of the time I just didn't feel any need to switch the others, the amulet's were good though both extremely useful so I enjoyed their additions, the blade powers just felt pointless.
They made parry useless I didn't touch it after I realised it was no good compared to what it was.
Other than that I gelled well with the rest of it, the O weapons were a nice addition and it felt the same as it always has.
Overall it was fun but I can see why they chose to remaster 3 over this as it just doesn't add anything to the story that was needed, and 3 will lead new players into 4 much better with it looking to continue on after 3s ending.
