We should probably get a thread to start tracking these rumours...
http://www.gamespot....s/1100-6426298/
Article is dated March 31st, for those wondering.

If hideo really is breaking with Konami and is no longer going to be attached to Silent Hills, it could be interesting to see what happens to the game.
On the other hand, this could be an elaborate marketing ploy.

If it was a ploy, the only thing it will achieve is pissing off their shareholders and dropping stocks.

Update: Apparently the Kojima logo is gone from Silent Hills website. Well, there goes my hope for SH being any good. GG.

It's been that it'll be the last mgs game Hideo would do for awhile now but I think this shows that it's pretty definitive this time

Terrible news whatever is actually happening behind the scenes. Kojima up until beginning of this year was vice president so he's been a pretty big part of steering Konami in much better direction regardless that he is one of the few developers that people actually know by name and they are dumb to not think keeping him under the umbrella is not important. It seems they've come to the view that MGS is more important than Kojima. Their finances were terrible until MGS4 was released for instance.

It seems it's not going to effect Phantom Pain directly but I wouldnt be surprised soon after release Kojima leaves Konami completely and forms a new studio as him and his senior stuff are now "contractors".

Gaming media is just flatout not equipped to cover this.

Aye, unless Kojima has said he wants to get out of game development altogether (which I don't think is the case), Konami should be working to keep him, there's not a game he's made that hasn't been both excellent and unique, and very, very few have that track record.  I just hope it works out well for everyone in the long run.

I'm inclined to think that Kojima has other projects and ideas he's wanted to do for years but Konami won't let him leave MGS. He never even wanted to do MGS4 (and if you've played it you'll know what I mean) Heck, he wanted MGS2 to be the last game. Hence why he made it so meta and crazy. Kojima has often said he as dozens of ideas he wants to do but hasn't been able to.

Aye, agreed, but seems a bit silly for Konami to let him go - as far as new gaming ideas go, Kojima's have to be safer bets than the average, and just having his name attached will likely help him get over the 'selling enough to make money' barrier that publishers worry about.  Sure, it won't be MGS, but if Kojima's not going to be doing MGS anyways, why not have him work on his next idea in-house?  I mean, it might be Kojima looking to make a clean break, but the vibe is that Konami's driving things, and if that's the case it doesn't make a lot of sense.

Likewise - would be good if we could have these every weekend. Any objections?

Haven't seen that film, nor do I use any of those ISP's... but it looks like there's gonna be a few people in trouble. The question is - are you potentially one of them?

Argh, they need to realize that there's a reason that Aus breaks piracy records, it's because some content we cant even pay for when we want to. Going through the courts will always change nothing instead of the market actually changing to accommodate consumers.

Aye, he's the voice I most associate with cricket by a huge margin.  He had a pretty good run (made it to 84, never lost a series while captaining Australia and decades of commentating), but sad to see him go nonetheless.
