Season 4 is almost done (2 eps left for me), and I'm loving this show. So enjoyable to watch, shame season 5 will be its last but glad it gets one unlike shows that just get canned and leave viewers hanging.
Bit annoyed that I've read that its going to be a split season, so it wont finish till 2016.

Haven't got around to watching season 4 yet. Plan on doing so soon. Shame about it ending. Though maybe better than letting it carry on too long.

Watched the last 2 eps. Second last eps was suspenseful in wondering if which way they would go with Ruth.
Last ep didn't have much "action" I think they just used it to set up the last season so they can hopefully get straight into it from the first ep.

I'm looking forward to last season based on as it seems they will be having stories in 3 different areas based on the splitting of several long running characters so it will be a bit of a change when the majority of it has taken place around the Union Pacific railway.
With Bohannon now with the Central Pacific, Micky and Eva leaving(Forced) Cheyenne to go elsewhere and Durant and The Governer still at Cheyenne.

Was watching season 5 enjoying it immensely got up to episode 7, wondering this week why I haven't seen another episode of late then getting the painful reminder they split the season so I have to wait till next year to see anymore eps.

Ouch, split-seasons are nae fun!  Why'd they do that, was there a cliffhanger, or just because production needed a bit more time?

I didn't feel that it was particularly cliffhangy, it left questions bit nothing big enough end of year big in my thoughts.
I've no clue on that that second thing. First 4 seasons all shown in the same year, first 3 were 10 eps long and 4 was 13eps. This last season is 14, split 7 each year. So I would say it's unlikely to be the reason but you never know.
