I played my first MP game of this last night - the set-up is fairly basic, but it allows custom games, is skill-based, balanced without needing custom options set (it's a sorry sight to see online gaming have come to a point when being balanced is an unusual feature ), and is a tonne of fun.  It'd be 1v1, and it'd be a great way to start playing around with ladders, as well as give some XCOM junkies the potential for a 'season' with some playoffs.  Thoughts?

Look at the XCOM reviews (not just mine ) and see what you think - as an old-school PCer, you may well find it awesome .

Yeah, it's gotten great reviews and I played the original but I just don't go out and buy games straight away like I used to and prefer to play them one at a time. Still got so much catching up to do. Am thinking of getting Witcher 2, even Mass Effect 3 or Dark Souls... I don't know. Definitely gonna get rid of BL2 though... had a gut full of it. haha.

Darks souls is well worth playing! If you do go that way, make sure to pick up the PTDE so you have the DLC aswell.
Much fun and deaths to be had haha!

Yeah I know - I'm yet to go back and finish Demon's Souls but was thinking of just leaving it and playing Dark Souls so it doesn't ruin the experience of it feeling the same. But it's not on the top of my list. Probably going Witcher 2 or ME3 first.

Anyways, giving this thread a bump rather than making another (Though axe probably will cause he's axe).
Since Xcom's free for PS+ now, we were slightly talking about looking to get the interest back into this.

Granted axe turns his "Luck" off, it would be a good tourny haha

Haha, I'd deffo be up for this, very happy for others to host so I can't switch on my 'luck' switch (in a game with Saintsy today, I made all of my first four shots, which averaged about 50% across all four - needless to say, poor 'ole Saints got the rough end of that match).  Would be easy enough to set up some kind of ladder, and then just have some kind of move up/move down mechanic (so challenge up, and if you win, move up a spot, or something - nothing too complicated, ladder would just be an excuse for a few games of XCOM ).  Would recommend best of three matches, all on the same map I'd say, with the challenger selecting the map?

That, or would could do a round-robin tourney, also very doable .  Can't recommend this game enough .

Those games were crazy haha! Not even sacrificing my alien gave me luck lol.
