well supposedly steam's winter sale starts on the 22nd of december, be interesting to see if the rumours are true or not.  few games i'm really keen to snap up if they're cheap enough.

i've got over 100 things on my watchlist, but it's always the ridiculous sales at 85% off i'm on the lookout for.  picked up insurgency for just over $US2 the other day.

doesn't look like any special sale started today anyway.

Just in case you're worried your backlog is getting too small eh? ;).  Insurgency for $2 sounds like a great deal, good luck with the sales if/when they happen (agree it doesn't look like they've kicked off today - maybe they'll try something after Christmas instead?)

It will start sometime tomorrow morning for us (3am-5am I cant remember the exact time the steam store updates), the rumours would state the US date so it will start on the 22nd in the US, so 23rd for us.

ok, about to have a spend, here's what i'm getting in no particular order;

POSTAL
http://store.steampo...1_7_7_204_150_4
$US0.49

looks like just a laugh of a game, likely play it on my macbook when nothing on tv.

Hard Reset Extended Edition
http://store.steampo..._7_7_204_150_44
$US1.49

this looks great, well fantastic for a couple of dollars !!  the videos for it look sweet as & the reviews really solid (even the meta rating is very high).

Portal Bundle (1&2)
http://store.steampo..._7_7_204_150_60
$US4.99

everyone loves these don't they ?  well i guess i'll find out one way or another.

Avadon 2
http://store.steampo..._7_7_204_150_62
$US1.99

yes, more isometric turn-based combat for me xD

Breach & Clear
http://store.steampo..._7_7_204_150_74
$US2.24

now this looks like a little sleeper, been on my wishlist for yonks.  another turn-based game but a little different.  really highly rated & crisp graphics, can't wait to play it.

Arma Tactics
http://store.steampo...com/app/224860/
$US1.79

i have this on android.  it's very average but not a bad (short) time killer.  paid about $8 or so for it iirc.

------------------

also going to get these 2, probably after Xmas;

The Evil Within
http://store.steampo...7_7_204_150_195
$US11.99

this was pretty hyped up but died a bit.  i saw & played it at EB Expo a couple weeks before release & i was personally impressed with it.  have wanted it since.

Witcher 3
http://store.steampo...com/app/292030/
$US29.99

i was buying this in the new year & can't see it dipping below this in the next few months, well not without getting the DRM free version (read free twice there) or using a VPN etc.

------------------

had more games there i'd like to snabble, but when they head north of $US5 it puts me off a bit & when they're that expensive i usually stick to specific games i've wanted for ages (like witcher 3 & evil within).

Not a bad haul there Graph B).  That's a great price for W3 this early in it's life.

Unsure if you're still about Axe - just wondering whether you've played the Battlestations games (Midway and Pacific)? From memory they were supposed to be great but would like to get a second opinion. Cheers mate.

Also - Graph, have a look at this game... http://store.steampo..._7_7_204_150_10

I own it and it's really good.

Also - has anyone played Life is Strange (all episodes)? Is it any good?

Nah mate - don't. I think I reviewed maybe 1 game. Just couldn't be f'd. If you can see all the games I have, then just ask (although I have a lot of games that I haven't played yet).

With that said - finally got around to playing Grimrock (I've got both)... enjoying it thus far but I'm playing it on easy, so it's exactly that. Not in the mood for anything challenging.

Sorry Clowny, they're both on my 'maybe one day' list, but never got around to them.  Definitely up my alley in a general sense, though, and given their astronomic cost in the sales I might grab 'em just for a gander - I think combined they cost less than a 'slightly better than average' lunch out for me, and that's without buying a drink :).

I do try and review 'em Graph, but often forget.  If there's a game I've played that I haven't reviewed, remind me and I will :D.

For $4 (probably $6 AU, but close enough in this case not to matter), that's sooooo worth it B).

i gotta stop buying games, especially since i'm grabbing witcher 3 before the sale ends.

my big bargain tip would be hard reset, i'm yet to play it but it's $US1.49, includes the DLC & the vids look extremely good.  metacritic is 73, so it's in that upper tier.

I like this review of Hard Reset...

Quote

Good shooting mechanics, nice weapon effects, bland story, repeatitve enemies - gets boring after a few hours! Dont spend more than a dollar!

Price of the game $1.50... damn. haha.
