battletech is now up on kickstarter, just a refresher but it's being made by the same group (harebrain schemes) that does the shadowrun series which i quite like. they're a small studio so to speak with no major funding or partners so it is pretty down to earth as far as kickstarter funding goes (unlike say project cars 2 ...).
to begin with the game was being funded by them as a 'skirmish' only mode, basically just like the tabletop board game version in 3D, but with funding they're adding a campaign & expanding on it at different funding levels.
their goal was $250k, but while i'm writing this it has already passed $750k & it's only the first day, so i'm sure they're wrapped in it.

the game itself isn't expected until May 2017 though, so you may be a little older by the time you get a go at it.
on another different, but very similar note, divinity original sin 2 is in its last hours on kickstarter. once again smaller team (larian studios) & no big backers, but their other title divinity original sin is one of the best games i've ever played. DOS2 is due out in December 2016 so a fair bit closer & really looks like it'll be a smash as well. their funding goal was 'only' $500,000 but it is currently in excess of $1.95 million. i'm sure it is going to be a ton better game than battletech, as the shadowrun games are something people either love or hate, but DOS is pretty well a smash hit with all so 2 should be brilliant.
