Anyone remember when E3 was the big games show, with bits and pieces from TGS as well?  Times they've changed, and now E3 and Gamescom are close to as large as each other (Gamescom has always had more of a consumer focus, E3 has gradually shifted towards one).

Anyways, Gamescom is the European show, and as we're part of Europe (in gaming territories, if not geographically) this is 'our' show, and it's on next week .

There'll be press conferences (at least Microsoft and Sony, and a few of the big pubs, will post in this thread more deets later), reveals, trailers (last year's Gamescom sizzle trailer for the PS4 had WARRR THUNDERRR in it - there was other stuff at the show as well of course, but that was the important bit ) and oodles of gaming coverage.  What's everyone hoping for?  Anyone tipping any surprises?  I know that the mob making Star Citizen and Paradox Interactive will both be there, which is enough for me to take notice .

Looks like Sony'll have a press conference at 6pm British Summer Time (BST) on the 12th (which I think for us would be 3am AEST/1am WA/5am NZ on our side of the world, but please check this if you plan to get up to watch it, my head's hazier than a London fog at the moment), streamed from the PS Blog if you're rocking a nasty case of insomnia.

Microsoft also have a press conference planned, for 2pm Central European Standard Time on the 12th (which I think is 1pm BST, which I think means the Microsoft conference would be at 10pm AEST/8pm WA/12 midnight NZ over here, but again, please check if you're going to watch it).

I'm sure we'll see a few more announcements in the mix, MS put out a teaser vid a little while ago, and they look like they're bringing the games



Sony have also released a teaser, although it's of somewhat lower production values, but Sony always bring an announcement or two to Gamescom, and I'm sure this year will be no exception .

Can't wait for more on Uncharted 4, gameplay of Bloodborne (to see the reactions from Souls fans) and the other big IP's rumoured to be in the show from Sony's other big first-party studios. Also more Indies/smaller games for new and different experiences

Info/Release Date on Helldivers, its the only unreleased game that I've got any interest in playing for the rest of the year.
