As you're probably well aware, Call of Duty presently has 2 studios (Infinity Ward & Treyarch) who produce the game in turn on a 2 year cycle (so the game is release annually).

Activision has now added Sledgehammer Games to the list of developers who will be working on the game in turn so each game will have a 3 year development time.

Sledgehammer Games aren't new to Call of Duty by any stretch as they worked with Infinity Ward to produce Modern Warfare 3 which was totally awful.

Here's the official comment from Activision:

“This will give our designers more time to envision and innovate for each title. Simultaneously, it will give our content creators more focus on DLC and micro-DLC which, as you know, have become large and high-margin opportunities and significant engagement drivers. Finally, we’ll give our teams more time to polish, helping ensure we deliver the best possible experience to our fans – each and every time.”

More time to focus on DLC, argh !

I really think there's a risk of them driving this franchise into the ground.  If I were looking long-term, I'd go every two years with this (and Assassin's Creed), and keep them as quality moneyspinners forever.  Instead, they've tied up three large, talented dev houses to iterate on something that's been iterated on every year for over half a decade.....  Still, best of luck to 'em, hope they do good :D.  Thanks for the info Graph B).

Hopefully each studio will do more with the single-player, or perhaps even less! (Like the older games in the series.) I've loved every campaign up until MW3, and Black Ops 2 tried some interesting things but it really fell flat in the end I think. I haven't played Ghosts (or CoD3 for that matter) so I can't comment on that.

Bring back the WWII games!

Yeah, the campaigns really peaked around 4/WaW imho. Both those games had really good flow, with the right mix of longer gameplay segments and shorter set pieces.

Yeah... Be nice if they did something to make each difficulty tier really unique, or maybe just improve the enemy AI overall - either one works really. Although I feel the enemies' AI is limited more by level design than it's routines.

Hahaha, +1 - [email protected] is one of my fave CoD campaigns by some margin, and there's deffo been nothing of it's standard since (well, imo), but the nade spam on the higher difficulties was nutso!  I swear, the Japanese you were fighting were issued more grenades than bullets ;).

[email protected] is my favourite cod haha. Though MW2 will always have a soft spot to MW2 with its noobtube/OMA hehe :D
Cod4 MP is tops, but [email protected] weapons/maps were awesome. Not sure why people disliked it so much :/
Rushing HC S&D with the flamethrower, oh the memories haha.

The story for Ghosts was served up with extra cheese, but the gameplay wasn't half bad. MP is the same old shit it's always been though, painful as hell. Although I tend to find all respawn shooters a bit tedious.

Snd on [email protected] like airfield, castle, cliffside etc was so friggen good
War mode in itself, man I miss that type of diversity

Also Sledgehammer helped IW on the SP part of MW3 and they already stated they want to cater alot more to competitive (as there CEO is big in the comp scene etc) so here's hoping it turns out a bit more polished
