so went to use my ax-pros today only to find they won't work.

i'm pretty certain it's the power pack that's gone & thought i'd hit ebay to find another but it's an odd one (see photo).

i figure i can easily cut the Y-piece & solder it to a new power pack, but finding the right one hasn't been as easy as i'd hoped (only looked on ebay as not many other choices for me).

here's what it has on the back of the pack:

INPUT: 100-240 volt 50/60Hz 0.2A (it's an international power pack that supports voltage switching)

OUTPUT: 9VDC 0.5A 6W MAX (i figure this is the only important stuff)

can any one link me to one i can buy that i can adapt to make it work again ?  don't fancy buying a new headset just because the power pack is dead.  thanks.

if the jaycar one is ok i'm hoping the local electrical discounters will either have it in or get it in quickly (as they're a jaycar reseller).

The Jaycar one MP-3146 looks the best (not surprising, my bro used to be into electronics and swore by 'em), as it looks like it comes with a bunch of adaptors, so you may be able to dodge the welding.  It's a dash more expensive, but at under $20 shouldn't cause too much grief, and if your local reseller can get it in, then you might be able to dodge postage.  I'm pretty sure that as long as you match the volts and amps (9V, 0.5A or 500mA) and have the right connector you're all good (that said, if anyone knows different, deffo please post below ).  Good luck sorting Graph .

alright well i went to jaycar to get that adapter & they actually had it, it was $22 but that's life i guess.

no chance using one of the supplied adapters due to that Y piece in the cable (it's the first version of the ax-pros which had 2 power lines, one for the decoder & the other for the headphones themselves).

i just finished soldering the Y piece onto the new power pack & covered it in heat shrink & it's worked a treat.  i guess the only way i'll truly know is in the longer term though as to whether or not it cooks the headphones.

Great to hear, nice work Graph .  Good luck - am not clued-in enough on electrics but as long as the power unit was sending 9V 0.5a over that connection, then it shouldn't cook the headphones any more than the original did, only issue I can see (from my clueless state, so take with a grain of salt) was if the adaptor was sending out two different levels of volts/amps, but that shoulda been on the adaptor if it was, so touch wood you should be safe.  Just don't sit on 'em .
