Black Ops 2 Clan Sixes - 2013
(Clan Competition)Winner: NzAs 1
Runner up: NZR
Apologies for posting this more than five months after it wrapped up, things got away from me. Clan Sixes 2013 was our first full-length CoD comp on GG, with eight teams going at it to see who could come away with the prize. The teams in the mix were:
BLaZn
CF3W (withdrew mid-tourney)
DMN8
FV
NzAs1
NzAs2
NzAs3
NZR
RenV
It was a hard-fought comp, with lots of close matches. The Grand Final, written up by Matt, went like:
Round 1: Kill Confirmed - Yemen NZR Win 99 - 76
NZR rocketed to a 25-30 tag lead by playing a what we call a "FV" approach to the running gametype by situating themselves as a group/team in the room by B Search & Destroy. With what I must say with 2 or 3 lmg's destroying us from distant and a couple hiding in corners for close quarters collecting of the tags and to eliminate any of NzAs that got close to their room. After we managed to take the room and stop their spawn there. The game started to become more even. nFusion managed to work his way past NZR's defence midgame and pulled an abundance of hell storms, lightning strikes, and a VSAT things started to go our way and our rushing running gameplay started to pay off. But it was just simply to late to pull back the large deficit NZR had gained at the start. GG. A frowned upon approach to a running gametype but in my eyes you cant criticize a gameplan that is as effective as that was.
Round 2: Hardpoint - Carrier NzAs1 Win 232 - 201
With NZR's clear advantage on long range gunning against us it occurred to me that this map would really suit NZR a lot more than us. But with a few changes and tactical classes we were able cap the sites enough to take the win. Looking at the leaderboards after the game NZR were clearly the winning team. But unfortunately with gametypes like hardpoint, headquarters, and domination. Kills don't mean anything. And NzAs1 are a very objective team that would be happy to die 100 times as long as they achieve the objective which was the case here. NZR outplayed us from range but the close quarters skills of NzAs and positioning of tacs and overall positioning proved superior over a sitting back approach. That 3 or 4 of NZR were. Which was the difference between the scores at the end. NZR pulled a VSAT when we had a decent lead and things instantly changed. But as the first game went a VSAT pulled when your behind wasn't enough for NZR to win. NZR dominated the middle site by the crashed helicopter but that was the only site they really controlled. With their lmg long range skills this was not a surprise. There were occasions NZR had anchor and tacs advantage where they were able to hold the outter sites. But the close quarters skills pulled NzAs through to take the win. GG close game.
Round 3: Domination - Drone NzAs1 Win 181 - 162
Once again. LMG's...... Not meaning them running them as.... But map selection..... wow. Dom and Hardpoint are 2 of our best gametypes but man did we get some very open exposed maps lol. The gameplan NzAs ran to cap b at the start worked really well and we got both a and b. But unfortunately we instantly lost our position and NZR took b. It was a constant dog fight for b in the first half with both teams capping it the same amount. But with NZR take a 15 point lead going into the change sides. After the change we ran the same gameplan that proved dominant as we took b instantly again but this time put our tacs in smarter places away from emps. The 15 point deficit was quickly pulled in when 3 of our team members started to pull their hellstorms and lightning strikes which was really the game winner. NZR managed to take b twice in the second half but for very short periods of time compared to the first half which I think makes it clear the A side of Drone is the easier to hold with both teams winning their half from that side. Only difference I see is the scorestreaks and positioning of tacs and players as I think NZR struggled with the C side when attacking B. Great game. We just simply had the scorestreaks ready near the end when we need them. GG
Round 4: Search & Destroy - Hijacked - NzAs1 Win 4 - 2
With some of the past few s & d's my team has played its really showed that we simply don't play it enough anymore. But with a different gameplan and one we thought would rock NZR's sit back approach it really did work. We pulled the attack round for round 1 and NZR's defence proved strong by eliminating all of us for maybe one casualty. Then with NzAs on d it was the same story other than an error made by my boys by letting a plant go down at a. But it was soon flushed out to win the round. Defence proved easier and with both teams 2-2 after having 2 rounds each of d. It was NzAs turn to attack. Even though I knew we had a defensive round in hand it is always a mindset thing when you are 3-2 down, one round off losing whether you are on defence or not. So I said this round as a must win. We attacked from both sides of the boat. We ran RISS-NZL as a surprise rush right side and he instantly took out their strongest defensive area over A. With a couple of players getting double feeds and me getting a nade, NZR were cleaned out with only 2 of our casualties. Going into the final round 3-2 up and defending aswell the boys felt we had it in the bag but no one actually said that as we all know how shakey we are on what used to be our best gametype. But with defensive advantage and well placed d we took the win and ended it at 4-2. I managed to rack up a uav, hunter killer, care package that produced a guardian for the last round that made our defensive round easier to dominate. Thrilling game. GG
Round 5: Capture The Flag - Plaza - NZR Win 1 - 0
All I can say about this game is it came down to one cap lol... Both teams showed good defence. But with NZR timing their attack well with a group of them they managed to get our flag. Nuiean_allstar had a hellstorm on the flag carrier but missed "LOL". But hey doesn't matter. It was a tough game for me as I struggled big time with host lag. But looking at the gameplay going on around me and the scoreboard it was a really tight even game that really only came down to 1 cap. Neither team really got close to capping the flags at all other than the one that was capped where our team actually had their flag when they had ours. But they managed to hunt our carrier down which got them the cap. Once again NZR those lmg's wow lol. Certain gametypes and situations they prove to be dominant.
BTW Question for everyone or anyone. My host lag that I get quite often really hit me hard on this game. I was getting beaten to the bullet by ar's when im running dex, quickdraw and toughness incase I get hit. But honestly man its a lag you cant explain till you've had it. Example you have 4 bars "obviously" because your host but 1v1's you just never win. I shoot first constantly but the bullets just seem to be absorbed and it shows as no hitmarkers. I know people get this from overseas hosts. But this is different. Playing on an aussy connection I can play around the lag to suit it. But this is completely different and I cant seem to do anything in game when this occurs. It's like playing on fast internet until close quarters then It turns into dial up almost lol. Smooth but its just weird. If anyone has any suggestions or anything for this that would be great because man its frustrating to be running the quickest shooting class you have available and you get beaten to the punch by an ar that isn't even running quickdraw lol.
Final Score: NzAs1 Win 3 - 2
