366 days ago today, we kind of officially launched GG out into the internets, not really knowing what would happen.  We had a slick looking site courtesy of the talents of our resident graphic designer, and we had a good bunch of people that knew about gaming and running comps and ladders, and we had a great starting community with all the old-school CLANZers .

What happened, of course, is that we had a rip-roaring time .  In the last year we've held six contests in Black Ops 2 (a couple of Clan Sixes, sole survivor, zombies leaderboard challenge, nine lives and the HC S&D), a Hitman contracts challenge, a The Last of Us comp, ME3 coop contest, returned to Helghan on many occasions (and will again next Sunday ) and held community nights on GTA and got together in a bunch of other games from Payday 2 to Far Cry 3 to Dynasty Warriors 8 .

We've been very fortunate to welcome onto the staff many new faces since launch, with a big thanks to Live for all her work on the content, competition and just keeping the forums running side - we'd need another thread to list everything , Spec for his excellent news and reviews and being our man on the ground at the EB Expo, Aro for his reviews and CAD, the newest member of the team, for bringing us plenty of news and info, and keeping us up to date with that 'other' next-gen console . Saintsy for taking a mod position and not destroying the site, KDA and Matt for their excellent work on the contests and nFusion looking after the youtube channel and keeping us well-fed with vids.

A big thanks to all of the community that's come on board over the last year - you're the reason we exist - we're here to provide a platform for getting together and gaming, from comps like HC S&D to more laid back GTA onilne sessions, and that's what we'll keep doing as long as there's gamers that want it .  To celebrate the first year (and a day, because I may be a bit slow ), the good Jyks has put up a prize to our two most prolific non-staff posts, Batty and P1nk - you're now the proud owners of some Kontrol Freak controller enhancements - Jyks'll PM ya the deets .

And that's just year 1 .  With next-gen around the corner, year 2 is bound to be a very interesting time to be a gamer - we're looking forward to running comps in CoD:Ghosts, hopefully (DICE permitting) got a BF4 server up and running and do plenty more besides - we look forward to seeing you on the virtual battlefield and hanging out in the forums .

It's definitely been an awesome year on GG for just about everyone, I'm sure . I've really enjoyed working on the site, hanging around the forums, chatting and reading what everyone has to say and getting more exposure to the wider gaming communities and gaming in general (beyond Call of Duty at least ).

Since becoming a part of the community, I've been enjoying playing even more awesome games with different people - like lots of Borderlands and Dynasty Warriors with Saints, and PD2 and TLOU with Jykel and the rest of the crew - as well as encouraging some of my favourite clan buddies to chat about and play more variety of games together too (namely Radical and KDA through things like PS Plus, hehe). One of my personal favourite GG moments was actually when Radi joined GG, and then when he started to post up his crazy results for the Hitman Challenges... To me, it was like we'd really succeeded in making GG a comfortable and nice place for everyone to want to be a part of (I don't mean to embarrass Radi with this, haha ).

I think that GG has huge potential to grow even bigger too with the great community and atmosphere and all the talented staff we have on the team; especially Axe himself of course, and the other admins Outlaw, Graph, OC and GC who do a lot of behind the scenes work too. It'll be great to see all the next-gen talk, new comps, more community nights and other fun and hilarious chatter happening over the next year .

i still can't believe we opened the doors as my youngest daughter had her first b'day lol.

here's hoping this year (the coming year) trumps the previous, particularly with all this new hardware coming out =)
