Yeah it should be fine. I wouldn't overclock everything though and I guess you won't have the PC long enough for the PSU degradation over time to matter. Should be enough for the future extra HDD as well. I've seen 980 sli systems that use between 400-550 watts of power.

Yeah - I did a bit of research on it last night and they're/you're right... I was a little concerned at first thinking it might be borderline but looks as though it'll be okay. They were a little hesitant replacing the PSU because it was a special order (not something they usually have in stock).

That Titan X is a monster!  Priced like one as well though, and a fair margin for a relatively small increase in power.  It's the GPU for people that buy sports cars in their 40s and 50s .

ok, fallout 4 is coming & i want it to be nice.

i can run either 2 nvidia cards, or 4 amd cards (well after i get a bigger power supply or second one).

my dilemas:
- i currently have a gtx660 with 2gb ram
- adding a second gtx660 doesn't seem to give me much future-proof-ness
- i could easily sell my 660 to put toward an entirely new card
- upgrading to say a gtx960 doesn't seem to be much of an upgrade at all
- i don't want to shell out much over $300 in one hit
- i have nfi about amd cards but i could add them as i need them & they seem cheap, although less actual fps than lower spec nvidia cards

apparently there are new amd cards coming, meaning the current line up will likely see a price drop.  i'm guessing i need to be around 280x or 290 for what i want to do ???

that kinda makes sense lol.  i just don't want to be left frustrated when the game i want most is released & i have a sh!t of a time with it (in all honesty i'd get by, but i want to run it much more pretty).

dude has a msi r9 290 oc for $260, usually way over $500, sound ok ??

It's been a while since I looked at cards (a couple of years, maybe a little more), but from memory AMD cards were a bit power hungry (and hotter - might even be related ) - if that's still the case, keep an eye on power and cooling requirements.  Nvidia cards seem to have less trouble at launch as well (better drivers and all that).

You should be able to run it on the 660 (my guess). If you could run Skyrim I doubt it'll be much more intensive than that. The gameplay I saw certainly didn't look leaps and bounds beyond Skyrim.

@ axe; yeah the power demand on the 290 i'm looking at is 300 watts v 140 with what i have now.

@ gc; was fine with skyrim, i don't think i had 60fps, but everything maxed out & was fine.  there seems to be a lot more in the world with fallout 4 though, more scrub on the ground etc that could be an issue.  also in fallout 3/vegas you tended to need the great draw distance for sniping etc than you needed in skyrim so could also be an issue.
