I'm a bit of an Eve player so I'm interested if anyone has been playing Dust? It'd be good to get a squad going sometime.

I've been playing it a bit and it is so much better if you have a squad which sticks together. Not even if you know what your doing.

Id redownload it, but that whole corrupted data crap turned me off it. Was a good change of pace for a shooter ill give it that

Fair enough Saintsy, hadn't heard that was happening. It's pretty great now. New updates are coming all the time with more and more integration with Eve.

Axe and I had a match around a month after the open beta started we posted some of our thoughts over here.

I had a couple more matches here and there but haven't really played it since, though I did have 1 match after the recent big update. I do agree having a group makes a massive difference against a team of lone rangers.

Aye, I thought it was solid, but have slowed down a bit since, so not playing a whole lot of online shooters at the moment.  Deffo recommend getting a squad together, plenty of potential for tactical team play B).

lol I always forget about it but I'm sure it's still active. Probably a much better game than when I last loaded it up even.

so gave this a spin, first impression was that it was pretty decent, but that changed quickly.

first game i was having a real ripper of a round, can't recall how many kills i got but at times i'd get 6 guys in quick succession etc.  game was about to end though & i got signed out of psn & it kicked me.  thankfully my points etc seemed to have carried over anyway.

after that though i was just getting hammered every single game.  almost every player i came up against had a japanese name & there was a decent connection difference between us.  other issue i'm finding all the time is i'll smash someone but they've bought some super armor & won't die, or they'll shoot me with some super gun that takes me out in an instant.

Yeah I gave you bad advice, sorry. Turns out that there is this new academy thing that I didn't know existed (hadn't played in 8 months) that allows low level players to play each other but it has a limit, having you gain passive SP points early before actually playing probably wasn't the best idea.

You would've run into some proto's or heavies. You can't take heavies head on they're too armoured, they are slower and generally range limited so that how you tackle them. Protos are probably geared to high hell but still killable with a bit of luck.

You didn't ran into any tanks?

This game is quite random. You can join games that are ending, I have games where I go 8/2 then the next one I'll go 8/15.

yeah plenty of tanks.  had one game start where we went to fight them & the other team were ALL in tanks & we couldn't do a thing, just got spawn raped.  we had no turrets or vehicles & the anti armor guy is useless.  fires 3 rockets & by the time you fire again the tank has healed most of the damage & you run out of rounds anyway.  freaking awful.

Yep tanks are the worst so hard to counter with a group of randoms.
Yeah I have been red-lined before it sucks but I have also been in games where my team redlines the other one.
I carry two AV grenades not going to kill one but just in hope of scaring it off plus to to deal with any LAVs(jeep thingys) that try to run me over.

how do you get those, do you have to pay for them or just level up somehow ?  the leveling is so confusing too.

Yes the skill tree is confusing to high hell.
Skills are a combo off isk (money) and skill points. The isk buys the skill the sp levels it. Right now ignore the last bunch of skills(corp, turrets, vehicles).
I am not much help without the game infront of me. Personally I didn't run with anything but the free suits for a while and build my isk reserves.
They are 2 skills in the 2nd dropsuit tree. That increase suit shields and armour I would go for those first and a weapon that you like. If you want to stay free keep skill into what ever free weapons come with the (starter fits).

I personally use a Rail Rifle. Right no my top suit costs me about 16k isk per death so base on my earnings I can die around 8 times before I lose a profit.
