Here's one for the hardcore, tactical third person shooter;

The original creative director of PS2 hits SOCOM & SOCOM 2 is currently taking pledges to build a game he claims will be the 'spiritual successor' to his PlayStation 2 masterpieces.

SOCOM 2 is still regarded by many (older gamers) as being one of the most tactical & competitive squad based console games ever made, having in excess of 8,000 registered teams on the Game Battles ladder in its day (read more on that here).

Unfortunately, SOCOM 3, Confrontation & SOCOM 4, left many diehard fans of SOCOM wanting (& not to mention raging in the case of SOCOM 4) as the franchise seemed to take to a path more akin to that of an arcade, or simply, more mainstream game.

Right now, David Sears (fore mentioned creative director of SOCOM & SOCOM 2), has started a Kickstarter Fund to raise $US200,000 to build a demo of a game he in-visions as being the true successor to his original SOCOM games, titled 'H-Hour: World's Elite'.

Should he & his team at SOFstudios.com be successful, H-Hour will release on both PS4 & PC (not as a PlayStation exclusive as seen previously with SOCOM as that was published by SCEA).

There are various tiers of pledges available, with many of them also giving something back by way physical badges or in-game content including DLC packs.  Encouragingly, the $50 tier is called 'PlayStation Warrior' & carries this description:

I'd encourage any one with a lazy $50 & with a hankering for a quality & skillbased shooter to back this project, as what it promises is pretty well exactly what is lacking in current day shooting games which are slowly more & more mirroring one another.

Here's the latest balance of the Kickstarter Fund:

of course if you've somehow missed the link to the Kickstarter Fund for H-Hour, you can find that here:

& if all of the above hasn't convinced you to pledge, please see below for the Kickstarter Project Video

Would like thrice if I could, excellent stuff Graph :D. H-Hour is the likes of what people that started gaming after SOCOM 2 have never seen.  I doubt it'd ever be huge again, but I'd be very surprised if it didn't win over a large, dedicated audience.  These style of shooters are the only ones I ever find myself going back to for long periods of time on the strength of gameplay alone, can't talk them up enough, but will try :D.
