Thought I'd get this thread up and running - so as titled, good movies that aren't well known, even foreign films as I watch a lot of those.

My first movie is called Timecrimes (Los cronocrímenes [original title]). It's a Spanish film. I recommend 'NOT' watching any trailer for it so nothing is given away. It's a scifi/drama/mystery, that's all I'll say. I've watched the trailers (luckily afterwards) and there is spoilers so beware. Top film if you go into it completely clueless. :D

Not sure if these would really count (as they may be more popular than I believe they are.)

Cabin in the Woods - Really good horror movie. Best one I've seen in years. Plus it's Joss Whedon (Recommend not watching any trailers)

Summer Wars- Anime. Can't really explain this movie and give it justice. Just watch.

The Girl Who Leapt Through Time - Another movie directed by Mamoru Hosoda (Summer Wars)

Red Cliff, The Warlords, Three Kingdoms, House of flying daggers, The Warrior, Hero.

All these are Asian Action/Drama and i've enjoyed them quite a bit. If you're into those sorts of movies and haven't seen any of these, would highly recommend having a look at them. Just be ready for alot of subtitles and awesome battle scenes haha. If you've played a Dynasty warrior game and enjoyed it, some of these are essentially movie form.

Ip(Yip) man - More of your Action/biography style movie set in the 30's i think. Was on SBS a few months back and i ended up watching it till 3am lol. Well worth a watch aswell.

Awesome guys... I've seen all of them except Summer Wars so I'll definitely have a look at that!

IP Man is bloody awesome! haha. So is Cabin in the Woods. I reckon Fearless is the better Jet Li film (rather than Hero).

I've got another one - (was only gonna post up one every so often):

Head Hunters - Norwegian film. Trailer as follows:

The Intouchables.  French film about a rich quadriplegic who hires a dude from "the projects" to look after him.  Based on a true story I think.

If you've seen those I recommend

The Sorcerer and the White Snake - Jet Li Film about the Chinese Legend of the white snake

Shaolin - Starring Andy Lau about a former general turned Shaolin monk when betrayed

^

Probably one of my fav movies of recent times for asian martial arts/historical film, not as much fighting but a top film overall

Awesome mate. I've got another film, although this one is probably quite well known and some of you may have seen it. If you haven't, it's one of the best foreign films I've ever watched - however it's a very brutal film about the life of crime (gangs, drugs, murder). It's a Brazilian film which is called City of God (Cidade de Deus [original title]). Must watch!!

Yeah I've seen that one Gas, absolutely loved it

Yeah Saints, Shaolin is a bit more drama/talking but the fight scenes are perfect in the tone of the movie

Also if you havn't seen
Ong Bak, Tom Yum Goom I suggest you do, the stunts Tony Jaa does is amazing (He does his own stunts)

Only one I can think of, off the top of my head, is Turtles Can Fly.  Incredibly well put together movie, but also one of the most sad and depressing films I've ever seen, so don't watch if feeling down.

Touching the Void was a good movie GasClown,

Axe's comment reminded me. Grave Of The Fireflies Fantastic movie but so freakin' sad. Just thinking about it makes you
Maybe sad but it's highly recommendable.
